Does anyone know whether anyone previously waitlisted was cut from the list (i.e. denied admission)? Obviously not talking about those who did not want to remain on the waitlist because they had committed to other schools.

Second that question - it would be interesting to know if Booth trimmed the waitlist at all or simply continued with everyone who was on it previously (which would be disappointing).

Also, does anyone know the 3rd round admit deposit deadline? And the 2nd deposit deadline for attending students? I figure that the main points of waitlist review at this point will be once they get final yield from round 3 and then once they force those who've said their are coming to confirm with the second deposit (opening a few spots from people who have switched after making the first deposit). I reached out to the ad com via email but their response was pure deflection and so I'm hoping someone here can provide the dates - maybe one of you lucky admits.

Cheers

Same here, I was waitlisted in R2 and I was kept there now. A few questions:

1 - Were you able to find out the deposit dates?
2 - What was your WL strategy? I prepared the video, a short update and had new rec letters sent in to Booth.
3 - Classes start in September, but how early are we expected to be in Chicago?

I don't know the answer re: deposit dates, but if you look at last year's thread it appears that there were 2 major points of movement: the first around June 10th, and the second around July 4th. As far as dates to be in Chicago, last year's dates were (I found this upthread):
Pre-MBA Accounting (optional) - Tues. 9/3/13 - Sat. 9/6/13
1st Day of Orientation - Mon. 9/9/13
1st Day of Class - Thurs. 9/26/13

Thanks for looking up last year's dates. They are roughly in line with what we'd expect (2 weeks for R3 admits to decide, 1 week for ad com to review WL and extend some offers; then 2nd deposit due end of June, again 1 week for ad com review & offers), but no one has yet provided exact dates. One thing that I appreciated greatly about Booth's handling of the R2 WL was the promise of an exact date update (vs Berkeley which was a completely opaque "rolling basis") and while I know we won't/can't get such a specific day this time around it would be nice to confirm the dates that are relevant to waitlist decisions.

As to ZenGuy's other questions, I did the same as you for my WL materials. I'm not sure what to submit this time, as it's only been a month since the last update - not a lot of change.

And the exact dates for start of the school year were posted here on the accepted student forum: booth-chicago-accepted-students-class-of-164746.html

FROM Booth Admissions Blog: The Winners

For those of you that followed our #ChicagoNVC video series “On the Fast Track: An Entrepreneurial Journey” that took us through the ins and outs of the Edward L. Kaplan, '71, New Venture Challenge (NVC) experience, it may not be a surprise that the Simple Mills team took home one of the top prizes.

We saw this team work through fundraising challenges, distribution and manufacturing questions, as well as a push from mentors to dream bigger. In the end, the Simple Mills team prevailed to share the top spot with another Booth start up, RoomVA, a company providing online reservation capabilities for small family-run hotels.

Being part of the NVC is not for the faint at heart. The competition is renowned for producing world class companies, and requires a commitment and dedication from teams that many can’t comprehend until they put their hat in the ring. However, teams who persevere through the competition’s many phases will work on their ideas in one of the most supportive environments imaginable for early entrepreneurs – developing their business, practicing their pitch, and forming a solid business plan with instructor guidance and critiques from venture capitalists, private investors, and established entrepreneurs.

If you’re thinking about business school to launch your brainchild, or to immerse yourself in an environment where you can develop and work on ideas, see what a competition with great reward like the NVC can offer.

Read more about all the teams and winners here.

FROM Booth Admissions Blog: A Powerful and Supportive Network of Women at Booth

The sign on the door read, “closed for a private event,” and as I walked in, I was greeted by Dana and Natasha, first-year students and two of the newly elected co-chairs of Chicago Women in Business (CWiB), one of the most prominent student groups on campus. The place was teeming. I was surrounded by close to 200 impressive and successful MBA women, who were sharing laughs, fond Booth memories, and general excitement for the summer. This was the annual CWiB Dinner.

CWiB creates a powerful forum at Chicago Booth where future female business leaders can learn from, share with and inspire one another.
One of its goals as a group is to help members build relationships with corporate recruiters, faculty, alumni, and fellow students. Each year they host the annual CWiB dinner, one of their biggest events, to celebrate their accomplishments. This year the women gathered for the annual dinner at the popular Epic restaurant in Downtown Chicago.

The special guest of the night was Triona Schmelter, a 2005 alumna and vice president of Kraft Foods’ Meals portfolio.
She offered inspirational words of encouragement with balanced humor, as she shared personal stories of failure, resilience, mentorship, and ultimately emphasized the importance of perspective – while climbing the corporate ladder, seeking one’s true passions, and maintaining a suitable work-life balance.

I was humbled to be seated at the honored guests table with fellow colleagues enjoying an amazing three-course meal. As I looked around, I recognized faces of students whose journey I’ve had the privilege of sharing; students who have worked with the Admissions Office as a Dean’s Student Admissions Committee volunteer or an Admissions Fellow, or have served as co-chairs of various student groups.
I was completely in awe of the powerful network of women who surrounded me; they are consultants, bankers, lawyers, doctors, marketers, accountants, teachers, athletes, and entrepreneurs, and more importantly, unequivocally successful in their own right. I was honored to have taken part in a special evening to celebrate our female students’ individual accomplishments, the success of CWiB, and the beginning of lifelong connections.

If you are curious to learn more about the kind of community that exists at Chicago Booth, reach out to CWIB and connect with the co-chairs and members. Talk to Admissions staff, students, and alumnae at upcoming Forté Forums or Booth events taking place around the world. Also, save the date for our 2014 annual Booth Women Connect Conference that will take place at Gleacher Center in Downtown Chicago on Friday, October 10.

And you can see more great photos of this event here!

All the best, Amy
