So,
I am going to update this at the top so people can just com in and read it and not haveto scroll through this whole thing. Also if you are getting updates and didn't want them I am sorry.
So I applied to Duke, Tepper, Vandy, UNC Cornell amd MIT. ( Pulled my Yale App)
I got in to all of them except MIT. The decision came down to Cornell vs. Duke vs. Vanderbilt.
Vanderbilt offered me 100% tuition so the decision became easy in the end. I did a cost analysis vs income analysis and it makes more sense to go to vanderbilt with the schoalrship that Duke without. I attached my cost calculator and looked at the difference in earnings. Basically this is simply looking at the tuition and interest cost. This does not take into account living expenses because I would have those at either and they were similar. This is strictly to look at total tuition cost.
I also think that Vanderbilt is on a upward trend. The new Dean and admissions staff. The amount of capital they are putting in to bringing the top talent to the school is impressive. The faculty is also impressive. The guy that invented the VIX, the cheif economist at the Fed not ot mention others. The companies I want to work for come there and the Vanderbilt alumni is unreal. Bill Bain (Vanderbilt Alumn) Started Bain, Bruce Henderson (Vanderbilt Alumn) Started Boston Consulting Group. CEO of AA, CEO of Mattel. The list goes on and on.
The City: Well this was a no brainer Durham ( not nice at all) , Ithaca (Middle of no where COLD!!!) , Nashville ( Music City , Night Life, Amazing Weather) This is not even an arguement Nashville wins!!!
The People: While Cornell had some awesome people, the people at Vanderbilt are even better. Duke is exactly what I thought Duke would be. The only thing truly drawing me there was the name and the fact that I love the b-ball team.
I can't wait to get to Owen and I hope some of you join me in the future.
Thanks,
