I’m not an expert on IBD recruiting; however, my perception is same as ctgmat123 and thisisatestonlyatest – Fuqua and Yale are on par for IBD, which Fuqua better at bulge bracket, and Yale better at boutique.
From international prestige perspective, Yale has more prestige hands down. However, it will have absolutely no bearing on your employment opportunity in India 5-6 years post-MBA. The biggest driver of your employability at the time would be your personal network, reputation, and work experience. The far second would be the business school’s network within India, in case you need to reach out to alums for a warm introductory for a job.
Asimov said it perfectly.
If you're looking at immediate returns, I would look at employment records at both schools and determine if the banks people are interning at are ones where you'd want to work. Also consider if you would want to intern in the US/New York or if you want to go back to India for your internship. If you're looking at New York for the summer/near future, both schools will do a great job at getting your foot in the door. I would reach out to the Finance Club heads at both schools and hear their thoughts about your plans.
At the end of the day though, choosing a bschool isn't just about getting a job; you should also want to have a great 2 years with the people and the community at the school you attend. I hope you're able to visit both schools and experience the cultures for yourself.
Happy to connect you with Yale folks in finance, from India, etc if you need to. Actually, reach out to @maxkrewl here on GC and he should be able to get the conversation started too.
