Put x=0, then f(0)=0 and g(0)=0+1=1. Thus, y=0+1=1. Check where does the curve cut y axis at 1. Only A and D left. Next put x=1, so f(1) =1 and g(1)=b+1. Thus y = 1+b+1=2+b. At x=1, y=~1.5 in A, while in D, y=3. Hence, D

Check the graph. Draw a perpendicular from x=1. Rather the grids are alrady made. Check where does the vertical line from x=1 intersect the parabola as that will give you value of y. Where x= 1, y=1.5 as per the curve in A, but y=3 in D

On a radio call-in show, the 6th caller and every 6th caller thereafter were given a T-shirt. Also, the 15th caller and every 15th caller thereafter were given movie tickets. A total of 78 people called the show, all at different times. How many of the callers were given neither a T-shirt nor movie tickets?

Last week, each employee at a small company, except for one employee, made a donation to a certain charity. The average (arithmetic mean) amount of the donations was $39 per person. This week, after the remaining employee made a donation, the average amount of the donations increased to $40 per person. If the remaining employee’ s donation was between $54 and $61, which of the following could be the total number of employees at the company?

Indicate all such numbers.

78-18=60 But because essentially the is a number property question where we do have a range of numbers we should add one.

The answer should be 61 but PLEASE: always report the official answer otherwise is difficult for us. I believe chetan2u would agree on that­

Multiples of 6: 78/6 or 13; Multiples of 15: 75/15 or 5; Common to both 30 and 60. So people who get gift 13+5-2 or 16...Who do not get gift = 78-16 = 62

Total after extra employee donates 54 = 39x+54 = 40(x+1), where x is initial number who donated...x=14..Total =14+1 = 15..........Next if extra employee donated 61, then 39x+61=40(x+1)..x=21 or Total = 22.....Number of employees can be 15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22

carcass, sure enough OA should be there. It tells us taht the question has some source, and if OA is wrong, we can tell the member that the source can be discarded.

­I found the question online, and the OA was 61, but according to your explanation (on which I agree totally), it is 62.

When the source is not reliable and the students take a question here and there on google the thing is going to be messy somehow chetan2u

Six identical marbles are to be distributed among 4 cups numbered 1 through 4 so that in the resulting distribution there will be at least one marble in each cup. How many different distributions are possible?

Put one marble in each, so 4 marble gone. Now you have 2 left. Place 2 in any of the cups, so 4 ways. OR put one each in two of the cups in 4C2 or 6 ways. total - 10 ways

Of the remaining stocks, 3 stocks closed at a higher price for every 4 stocks that closed at a lower price.
