mmm...

Zegna

Canali

Loro Piana

this is my kind of thread.

Also becuase apparently, I gained weight and none of my suits fit anymore, so I have to go shopping or lose 10 pounds in two weeks.

Is it going to look overly flashy if you wear these kinds of suits during banking/consulting recruiting? Or will noone really know or care as long as you are well put together and don't have critter print ties and other things.

I don't think so, it depends actually more the color you're using rather than the Cut or brand. People will notice that it is a good suit. However, if you wear a Light Green Zegna (I doubt they produce this though) than it's flashy  .

Rhyme, today in this crappy rainy day in Chicago, I took the day to arrange my apartment and I noticed that I do also need to loose some pounds to get into my suits, that sucks.

I actually have the opposite problem right now. I am almost 15 pounds lighter than when I bought my last suit (right before my GSB interview) and 40 pounds lighter than my other suit (though its since been modified). I need to get back to regular exercise though or I wont have this problem much longer.

No, its just nice clothes, thats all. I've all but resigned myself to having to go buy two new suits next week.

yeah, business school is not allowing much time for workouts... though Haas is at the top of a hill, so I'm walking a LOT more than when I was working. Thank goodness!

As for suits, I got one 2 button and one 3 button. One Navy and one Charcoal, both solids. I have a striped brown one that I use for less formal events. So far I haven't needed to wear a suit yet. I guess on the West Coast, even the Investment Banking presentations (when they're not bankrupt or bought :P) only call for business casual with a tie. I love the West Coast. :P

https://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/i ... =EverGreen

In Europe, it would definitely be too intense a color (even the striped pattern is too flashy). Things may be different in the US.

Always consider a white shirt :)

Yes sir the reliable white shirt exists in my closet. I'll probably go with that.

I ended up purchasing 2 suits:

A) Hickey Freeman Collection - Charcoal Pinstripe
B) Ermenegildo Zegna Trofeo Line - Very Dark Charcoal Pinstripe

Both are 2 button suits.

I may add a solid navy next year.

Just bought my first suit!

I checked out a few places downtown and ended up going for a solid charcoal, two-button John Varvatos. Also picked up a white Hugo Boss slim fit shirt and a couple Hugo ties as well...I'm quite pleased with the whole ensemble and the grand total was just under $1,000 :)
