So many posts!
I would try to give my opinions about the topics which have been brought up:
@anner,
Ohhh!
Thinking that you would get a final decision today and getting that reply must s*ck!
Well, best of luck in that interview! As KAS1986 mentioned, if they want more information from you, that means they are interested in you and she eventually got an offer! :D
@lsl2125 and
@Yogotiger,
Actually I discussed in my interview the main aspects of LBS vs LSE vs HEC and why I thought LBS's Masters suited me best. I studied at LSE for 2 months (started a second bachelor there but realised it was not worth it) and the school is VERY overrated. Academically, everyone I know from LSE is quite disappointed with the classes, the professors are not THAT good. Do not get me wrong, compared with an average university, it is AMAZING. But I reckon it is not what we expect it to be. Moreover, the course at LBS is more practical as LBS is a Business School and LSE is a social-sciences university. As KAS1986 mentions, I want to get the key business knowledge, but to learn how to apply this knowledge along with boosting my inborn skills! I also want challenges! We can all learn from books, but the books do not teach us how to react in various situations. Therefore, I guess LSE would be better if you would like to continue a PhD in Management / Operational Research. On the other hand, LSE careers service is excellent!!! But I guess (I am sure actually!) that LBS's is too!
I do not know that much about Oxford (I have only been there 2 days for an interview), but I guess the links with the companies is not as good as LBS's, even though they must be very good too!
It is up to you. Research where students go after graduation and, taking into account the industry you would like to work in, take the school that suits you the best! However, I shall quote KAS1986 (after reading your post, I know why you got into LBS
) "The social scene and small size of the school allows us to form relationships with those MBA students who will soon be in a position to hire us (or have contacts that already are)".
@YogotigerAre you sure about the 71000USD, figure? If you got it from the FT, I think it is 3 years after graduation... Even though we would end up with a MSc from LBS, we still have no / almost no working experience and we would start in ANY company from the bottom (ie: analyst, associate, etc.), not as a manager! Btw, I also come from an engineering background but, why do you need an internship (although it would be great if you could undertake one this summer!) if you would already have secured a job by Feb 2011?
