Calling all 2011 Kelley Applicants!

I find the deadline extension interesting. It goes along with my theory that applications as a whole are way down this year, especially when you get outside of "Ultra-Elite" and "Elite" territory. I had my application fees waived at five of the six schools I applied to (including Kelley) which I found very surprising. This is also the vibe I have received during the interactions I have had with these schools whether it be during visits or email/phone conversations.

During the 2008-2009 application cycle Kelley had ~1,500 applications, an acceptance rate of 31%, an admissions "yield" of 48% and a matriculating class of 227. During the 2009-2010 admissions cycle Kelley had ~1,200 applications, an acceptance rate of 42%, an admissions "yield" of 41% and a matriculating class of 209 (8% decline). When I visited the school it was mentioned to me that Kelley wants around 225 people in each incoming class. I could understand how you could say that two years ago was an anamoly-type year but if this trend continues Kelley is going to have to continue to raise its acceptance rate which won't be good for rankings purposes. So the deadline extension makes sense to me if the trend is indeed persisting. I'm sure this is the case at other schools, too.

Is the information I have just mentioned really that pertinent -- no -- but it is worth noting. If anything it should give folks a little more confidence. Perhaps I am completely wrong, but it just seems that non-Elite schools are a little more eager for applicants than usual.

I applied late on Jan 4th (a day before the original R2 deadline..which I guess was pushed back per earlier note in this thread??).

Anyways, I got an interview invite via email within the past hour. I am very excited. It is my interview invite of the season Kelley is my top choice.

For interview options, basically you have two: visit campus or skype. I'm definitely going to do a campus visit for it, just need to figure out what interview timing works best with my schedule.

I have such a unique background (I can guarantee that no one is even remotely close) that I'm a bit wary of posting too much, but I will say:

GMAT: 710
GPA: Above 3.0, but not good by any means. Very strong upward trend.
Age/Nationality/Ethnicity: Old American Caucasian;-)
WE: Have never worked a day in my life at a "traditional" MBA feeder job or occupation.

I applied for R2 (priority) on 1/5/11, and received an interview invite earlier today by email.

GMAT: 720
GPA: 3.4 (3.96 in last 86 hours of college, abysmal before that)
WE: 3 years+ small business management
Nationality: U.S. Caucasian
Age: 32

Just got my invite. Submitted Jan 4th, invite came on a Sunday!

are the R1 results over ??? or is there some other procedure that kelley follows for selection.. i am confused now ..

R2 here, submitted on Jan 3. but haven't received interview invite yet. getting worried!

Folks,

I checked Kelley's website and various blogs, but could not find the news about deadline extension. Can someone pl. authenticate this news? The website stil mentions the Priority deadline as Jan 5.

BTW, I submitted on Jan 5.

It is not possible to check the status of your application online. We will not notify you when your application is complete, however we will contact you if we need any additional information. WTF
