I'm a Chinese-Filipino Malaysian graduating from an Australian law school this September. Before this very last semester, I took a year off to do some debate coaching and involve in my family business (sales in nature) as well. I managed to lead my team to win all the state competitions in Malaysia and go all the way to the national championship after two years of absence. My post-mba career goal is to get into IBanking in HK (short-term) and Hedge Fund/Entrepeneurship (long-term).
Please evaluate my profile to see my chance of getting into Cornell or Yale, and I'm not really crazy about M7 schools. FYI, I started my undergrad studies in Taiwan, and finished top (1/51) in my first year at a Taiwanese law school. I love backpacking and have been to places like Los Angeles (part of a cultural exchange program), San Francisco, New Zealand (Working Holiday) and Bangkok. And, I have a strong interest in Chinese Calligraphy, and I happened to get the Highest Distinction Honor in a competition held in Australia.
GPA: 3.82/4.00 or 90.12/100 in TW + Distinction or High Credit Average (72-75/100) in Australia
GMAT: 750/6.0 AWA
WE: 2 years at matriculation (Aug 2011 intake)
Honors: Presidential Award and 1st prize for Academic Achievement (TW)
Dean's Scholarship and 2 First-in-class Honors (AUS)
I don't want to emphasize on the fact that I'm only 20 now, since I think it might be a negative for me.
Your academic credentials are very impressive and highly competitive at top programs. You say you will have two years of work experience. Is that all in sales for your family business? What will you have been doing? Anything related to IB?
