Hi
MBAMission, would really appreciate your 2 cents:
Background
Work experience: Currently a PhD student in biomedical engineering which I started right after college. Current school ranks top 15 in both overall ranking and in my field in the US. I've done quite well in grad school in terms of publishing decent papers and winning various awards/fellowship (several of these awards put me in the top 10% if not better in the field). Because of the extremely interdisciplinary nature of my work, I don't quite fit in the typical expectation of a grad student working alone.
Extra curricular: seminar series founder, education office chair for a student org, STEM outreach, teaching classes/giving seminars and most recently president of consulting club
Undergrad school/major: Ivy with strong engineering school/biological engineering
Other education/coursework: Have a master's in biomedical engineering, on my way to get a PhD in a semester or two.
Race/nationality: Northeast Asian
Sex: Female
Stats
GMAT Score (include breakdown!): 760, Q51, V41, AWA6, IR5
Undergrad GPA: 3.52
MBA Info
Goal of MBA: 1) build a strong network 2) formally learn biz 3) enter management consulting. Short-term career goal is MBB consulting; mid-term career goal while uncertain is to go back to academia and be a professor; long-term goal is to reform education in my home country. You may ask why business and why MBA? The reason is that I realized what I wanted to do is to change a system/culture, not just how I teach in my classroom and my ambition involves strategizing solutions and persuading others which are commonly done in business/management consulting. I want the leadership/business skills under my belt to realize my crazy dreams.
Target schools: HBS, Wharton, Sloan, Yale
Having listed these, how realistic/unrealistic am I with the current list of target schools? If you have any suggestions on the schools, that'd be much appreciated.
Thank you all so much!
