Hi,

I need your help evaluating my profile:
- GMAT - 640,
- Undergrad GPA 3.0 -

- 12 years work exp in an international bank.
Married, and a kid.

I would like to pursue an MBA with concentration in Finance or marketing. Which schools can I target?
University of Toronto?
University of Boston?
LBS?
LSE?
Any other decent schools?

I love how you hijacked my thread and even copied my wording and my schools. You may need a little more imagination once you go to business school :o I think that with your combination of undergrad GPA/GMAT you should target University of Pittsburgh/University of Arizona/Drexel type schools (top 60+). You will definitely get accepted at University of East Carolina and probably get a decent scholarship. However, depending on your goals in life I would think twice before I go to the US because the immigration law over there is not very friendly and you may find hard time finding a job with an MBA from an average school. However, if you have the money and just want some good education then aim for the best school possible that will accept you. Also, you may start getting emails from schools that think you meet their criteria, so this will also give you an idea as to where you could get accepted.

Hi,

I need your help evaluating my profile:
- GMAT - 680, I think that 720 is within reach but let's assume that I am not going to retake it
- Undergrad GPA 3.98 - I went to a top 100 school in the US
- CPA
- CFA - level II candidate
- 5 years public accounting experience at a Big 4 firm
- a few other softer strengths such as being a chess master a speaking a few languages

I would like to pursue an MBA with concentration in Finance. Which schools can I target keeping in mind that I want a substantial scholarship?
University of Toronto?
University of Boston?
LBS?
LSE?
Any other decent schools?

Well, since a 720 is within reach, why would we assume that you aren't going to retake? The difference between a 680 and 720 is MASSIVE. so if you can get that 720 I'd strongly urge you to try....

Otherwise U of Toronoto or Boston - sure why not? LBS - without the 720 not likely... LSE - they don't have an MBA ;)

Decent schools, there are many. It all depends on what you want.

But let's put it this way - a big 4 accounting job is pretty good. A 3.98 is fantastic. If you add a 720 to the mix, you get an excellent profile (top 20 schools, if not top some of the top 10) so why not try for it?

profile evaluation - gmat 640

Hi ,
i took the gmat 3 weeks ago and got 640 ( q 47, v 31 ) - 73 percentile.
this was my 3rd attempt . i got 520 in 1st attempt ,and 620 in the 2nd.
i have a total work exp of 12+ years - all in the finance industry.
GPA 3.0

Though my dream schools are MIT, NYU, and LBS. but with this low score i'm not sure which univ will suit me.

need help on this.

Thanks

Well, I can't really tell you where to apply without any info about what you do, where you work, what other things you have in your profile. With a 640 though, I'd say that Top 30 schools are pretty much out of range, so start looking below that level.
