Hi,
Anybody tried the video essays.
Although I seem to have configured my micrphone correctly, Iam unable to hear a clear playback post recording a practice audio. The playback is full of noise and my voice seems completely inaudible.
(I have a DELL inspiron laptop)
I have even chosen 'reduce echo' option but still no use.
Surprisingly, with the same microphone and same configurations,Iam able to clearly hear my audio playback in Skype(sound testing service) and in windows sound recorder.
Would really appreciate any tips

you are really nice. you mean you are admitted and will enter the 2014 program?do you know if Rotman will select applicants on the base of whole Asian area or individual country, namely that they will select Chinese qualifers from the whole Chinese applicants. i find there are few Chinese applcants in gmatclub, especailly those applying Canada B SCHOOL. it is hard to contact someone.

razer727 : Sorry to repeat again but I am not the right person who knows about who admission team will recruit and who it will not. I am current student. My personal advise for you is to work for few years before applying and make sure you prove your leadership skills at work. Also do some extra curricular work

StrawberryCow: I havent heard of any such case at Rotman but having said that If you are really looking for a fee waiver , I would suggest you to write an email to admissions team

Can anyone share information on how the job market is in Toronto? Hoz the life there compared to US? Canada has liberal & flexible immigration laws.
Pros -
1) your spouse will get work permit for the same duration for which you get study permit.
2) post mba you and your spouse will get 3 yrs work permit.
3) your PR will be processed very fast without too much of problem, which is not the case in US
4) Healthcare is covered by government that could be very expensive in US

Cons -
1) Toronto is the only job market around
2) Cost of living is higher compared to US, don't compare with Manhattan downtown pls.
3) I guess real estate is also on a higher side compared to US

Please share your inputs. It will surely help lot of people who are unable to choose between US & Canada.

Hi anandin, thanks a lot for your reply. I will get in touch with admissions team regarding this.
However I want to ask you few more questions about the program. This helps me understand if it fits in my overall career plans. Here they are:
1. I read somewhere 46% of the class of 2012 have internships in the financial services sectors. Could you please share some details about the roles on offer in the of the financial services sector for Rotman MBAs. What % end up in sales trading, brokers, IBD kind of roles?
2. Please explain how the scholarships at Rotman admissions. Are these offered to all international students, whats the GMAT score like for international student(s) who may have received CAD 20 grand ?

best regards,

@strawberrycow : internship are in summer May- Aug. I am not sure about the % and statistics on split up of summer jobs as I am in my 1 yr. To answer that the best person will be admission team as they are the ones who compiled stats.

There are number of scholarships. Entrance scholarship is common for everyone (domestic/international) and that is what admissions offer once you are admitted. There are some more scholarship after you start your first year, mostly for domestic , 2 for internationals and 1 for women students. We also have some more options like Rotman scholars, etc. Do check the rotman site and they have detailed stuff about these.

And regarding GMAT score and admissions, I am repeating again GMAT score is just 1 part of your whole application. So its how unique you are and how competitive you are might get you scholarship. There is a article in poetsandquants about how rotman selects admissions. It was from 2012 interview but it really has some insights.

As every current student will advise you, applying early definitely has more chances of getting scholarship than applying in a late round.
