I do not know which GMAT number is correct but in this post I see Average GMAT as 635. But in the rankings file (all-2013-mba-rankings-99812.html?fl=menu) the Average GMAT is 673. Which one of these are correct ?

The 673 figure if Rice's official number (they also say 680 is the median score). I'm not sure how the 635 is calculated.

From the JSB website:

Full-Time MBA
Class of 2014
Class Profile

Number of Incoming Students 118
Average GMAT 673
Median GMAT 680
Average GPA 3.4
Average Years of Work Experience 4.8
% Foreign Nationals 29%
% U.S. Underrepresented Minorities 15%

If u mean the avg in the GMAT clubs page.....i.e in the begining. It is the avg gmat score of the applicants from GMAT club...

Consider Kudos if my post helps!!!

Hi Texigan,

That is very kind of you to be so helpful!

How does the Action Learning Project work? Do you select the industry/function et cetera and the University representatives find a company with a project? This sounds like a great differentiator for Rice as it gives career changers, like me, another set of experiences.

Also, I am curious to know the source of the handle, "Texigan."

Thanks,

DL

Hey,

Action Learning Project (ALP as it is called around here) is pretty cool. There are about 20 different projects throughout various industries and functions. The Jones School pre-organizes them with companies. In your second semester, you select which projects interest you. Student Services then matches you with one of your top ALP choices.

Texigan = Tex(as)(Mich)igan

Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions. Anything I can do to help.

Cheers

The Class of 2015 has an average GMAT of 676. I believe the standard deviation is relatively high. Don't fret if you score below the average.

I plan to concentrate in Energy but us first-years are only taking core courses right now so I'm not sure how much insight I'll be able to provide.

Ditto! I have found Rice people more willing to help than those from any other school. In addition to current students, the alumni and professors are all approachable and then tend to be more than happy to speak with you.
