I’d greatly appreciate if my profile could be evaluated. Feedback regarding my chances of getting admitted and tips for improving those odds are welcome. I will try to be brief in order not to take a lot of your time. Thanks in advance.
Targets: HBS, Stanford, Wharton, Columbia, Kellogg, Chicago and MIT.
Personal Info: 26 years old Brazilian (from Goiânia (Capital of state of Goiás), not the usual suspects São Paulo or Rio, although probably that is not relevant at all).
Education: Undergrad in Business at top 5 University in Brazil, located in São Paulo;
GPA: 8,02 (16th out of 100 students);
GMAT: 720 (Q49, V38, IR 7, AWA 4.0);
TOEFL: 110 (R 29, L 30, S 24, W 27);
Work Exp: 5 years of exp at matriculation:
1 year in M&A (boutique firm, focused on mid-market, located in São Paulo);
1 year in PE (small firm focused on mid-market, located in São Paulo);
2 years (until now) at family’s business in Goiânia (chain of retail stores (over 160) that sells a variety of household products and electronics through the Midwestern and Northern parts of Brazil. Annual turnover of over 1 billion reais (approximately 350 million dollars) and 5.000 employees);
Extra Cs: Involvement in the founding of an organization (AIESEC) in my University;
Member of the young entrepreneurs and executives association of my state;
Volunteer at Jr. Achievement, an organization that delivers experimental programs about business and entrepreneurship to high school kids);
Leadersh. Exp: Good (For example: As part of a trainee program to get into our family´s business I managed for a month one of our stores. My team of 12 people and I successfully achieved our sales targets).
Goals: Receive an outstanding education in order to be a 3rd generation “wealth creator” at my family’s business. I expect that the experience of an MBA (international exposure, experiential learning, global networking and leadership training), will prepare me to drive our Company towards sustainable growth and positive social impact.
Best regards,
