Hi
Accepted.Com !,
I am Shravan from India and I currently work at Tata Motors Limited, India's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer.I have a degree in Mechanical Engg from National Institute of Technology-Karnataka, Surathkal (one of the top NITs in India).
My GMAT score is 770 (Q51, V42) and my GPA is 7.8/10.I will have 3 years of work experience by Matriculation (2016).
So far, I have acquired experience in both Sales and Service in the Automotive Industry. Here's a brief rundown of my career so far:
Customer Support Manager (~1.5 years)I was part of a 3 member team from my company in charge of overseeing operations at a bus depot (bus garage) belonging to the Delhi Transport Corporation. This particular bus depot is the largest such facility in the world according to Wikipedia (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennium_Park_Bus_Depot). During my shifts, I was in charge of guiding a workforce of nearly 30 people consisting of Mechanics ,Electricians and Works Managers . Within a year, we achieved a turnaround in the performance of the bus garage with on-road bus breakdowns reducing by nearly 70%
I have some good stories to tell here about how I overcame cultural barriers and how we as a team implemented small changes to achieve a drastic turnaround.
After spending more than a year in this role, I decided to move on to sales to gain more business exposure.
Territory Sales Manager for Pre-Owned vehicles division (Feb 2015- Present)I am currently in charge of the Pre-Owned Vehicles division of my company for an entire state with two people directly reporting to me and overseeing a sales team of nearly 20 people spread across dealerships. In a short span of time, I have achieved a volume growth of nearly 30% YOY and have expanded the dealer network. Also, I am the youngest TSM ever for this role. I chose this role because of the freedom it gave me in terms of making strategic decisions.
Extracurriculars 1 Placement coordinator in my college ( made sure nearly 90% of my batch got recruited in a difficult placement year)
2. Community fund raising for an NGO serving under privileged kids.
Post MBA, I want to practice consulting focusing on the Automotive Industry.Long term, I would like to return to the Industry in a strategy / Leadership role.
Please let me know if I have a shot at any of the top 15 schools. My dream schools are Kellogg & Tuck and I also want to apply for Ross,Darden and Yale. But I am really anxious about how my work ex will be viewed by AdComs. Also, is my number of years of work experience enough?
