Answer choice D just doesn't do much to tell us whether these historical voyages happened. So modern folks haven't been able to do it. How many have tried? Did they know what they were doing? Were they willing to risk numerous casualties to make it? What if 1,000s of Egyptian boats traveled out, and only a small number reached South America? Basically, we don't know what bearing D has on whether it was possible at that time to make the journey, so it doesn't weaken the argument.
