Congrats to everyone who was accepted today. Does anyone have an idea how many people were placed on the wait-list?

In previous years, the Adcom has said about 200 people are waitlisted but some people think that the AdCom might have a smaller waitlist this year after last year's situation with an oversubscribed class.

Congrats to everyone who got in today.

Haha ding - expected as I totally went complacent on the interview - so those applying next year don't flub it!

I am not sure anyone can say how many folks are on the waitlist. I can tell you roughly 450 people were admitted for 350 spots. If you assume a 66% yield (historically fairly accurate), then that means they will need to pull roughly 50 folks from the waitlist. Now, I have no clue how many they have already pulled from the R1 waitlist or whether that historical yield figure is accurate. Honestly, given how high the yield was last year, I bet Sloan used the waitlist very aggressively this year (so as not to have another oversubscribed class).

Lets hope that last years yield was a fluke and that this years numbers returns to a healthy lower rate :o

I was denied over a month ago for mba but received a message asking that I apply for the SCM, MSCM, or ZLOG and they would waive the fee and just to write an essay and gave me a different deadline than published on their site. Is this something alot of you received?

Just one of Sloan's many marketing emails. Apply if you want, but don't take it as any indication that you'll be accepted (granted, if you're looking at the MBA, an SCM may or may not be a degree that best suits you).

I may have missed this previously, so apologies if i am re-hashing this topic, but did anyone get $$$ in R1 or R2? I read on P&Q that MBAover30 got a separate call 2-3 days after acceptance detailing a scholarship offer but wondering if:

a) Anyone got $$$ on your acceptance call?

b) If not do we get told as part of our welcome packets in the mail?

c) If not there, then do we always get told on a call similar to MBAover30?

d) I am sure that I read somewhere that scholarships (any other $$$ sources) are evaluated independently of our applications, but can anyone confirm? If so is there a deadline for when we will hear by?

Thank you for any insight you guys can provide....

Yes. It will/would also be in your adMIT packet.

He is the only adMIT I heard this happening to, honestly. Nobody mentioned to me that they got scholarship/fellowship money at adMIT weekend.

I believe some specific scholarships are decided post-matriculation (I believe the McKinsey Award, for one). Check the scholarship/fellowship section of the Sloan website for details.

I heard they reconsidered their offer after reading his blog.

I received an e-mail too. Decided to put in the SCM application since I'm on the waitlist for another MBA program (and supply chain management/operations is related to what I want to study). My goal is still to get into an MBA program but if the only thing I have to do is write an essay I'll just apply and see what happens- doesn't mean I'm getting in, and if I get in it doesn't mean I have to take it. Just another option on the table.

Unfortunately, it was canceled due to the events taking place in Boston all day Friday. Luckily, Thursday night took place mostly as planned and there were some ad-hoc events planned for late Friday night and today, though.

And so - after a month and a half of deliberation - I've decided to let go of my Sloan waitlist position, and accept a place a Tuck! I know this may have seemed a no-brainer to a lot of you, but I assure you it was not a quick'n'easy decision to make. I love both schools to bits, but as an international, there were eventually just more cons than pros in waiting to be accepted at Sloan.

I cannot begin to describe how uplifting the decision is, and how much clarity it has given me. There's much to still be done, but I'm ready for it - Fall couldn't arrive sooner!

It has been a pleasure hosting this thread over the past year, and I look forward to continue contributing in any way possible to this forum.
A small note to those who didn't make it this year - never lose hope. Sometimes its only a small facet of your overall profile that needs a little chiseling - get it done, and you will be through! Who knows - I may even see a bunch of you next year at Tuck!!

Cheers,
MBAWanderlust

PS - Seeing the 'M' against Tuck on my profile, and smiling to myself.

I'll definitely be seeing you at Tuck Winter Carnival the next few years. Congrats on the decision! As I said in my PM, Tuck is truly awesome. :-D
