What, if you relax and try to ignore the stress of waiting for an admit it makes life a lot easier. Hitting refresh every 5 seconds or staring at your cell phone just makes it that much more stressful. Yeah yeah, I know...having an admit already makes it easier to follow this advice, but still. You cant rush their decisions so just try to forget about it.

oh don't get me wrong river, I agree with you on the "adding stress to yourself" thing with the F5 button, but I am pointing out again that you already have an admit. I probably would be in La-La land if I have an admit already, and would be very relaxed waiting for the results of my other schools... :P

So for what it is worth, Joanna on the GSB boards re-iterated that decisions will be released on Wednesday, but I'm not sure if that is just standard protocol and that calls will still be made.

Well, then maybe they are doing it a little different this year... We'll know in a few hours.

Rhyme -

Was the process the same series of events last year? Ie. decision date moved up two weeks to a mid-week date, then they said decisions would only be released that day, but in the end calls were made at the beginning of the week? Seems that if applications at GSB are really up 30-35% this year that it could make sense if they take every last minute they have to finalize decisions...

Dear applicants,

Decisions will be released on December 19th.

Good Luck,

The most recent post by an adcom in the GSB discussion forum. Seems we will have to endure a tedious 48 hour period.

just edited:
"Decisions will be officially released on December 19th. "

I think the lucky ones (some or all) can expect phone calls earlier

GSB always said that decisions will be anounced "officially" on Wednesday...its the whole 9 am email, status update change.....

looks like today was initial D Day that we anticipated but got pushed back for tomorrow...now I know what the soldiers waiting at the British coast on 5th June 1944 felt like....

poor analogy.. but my nerves are shot..

that wasn't my point.
People, it seemed, were beginning to doubt whether phone calls were going to be made before the "official" deadline.

The fact that a post from the adcom which read "Decisions will be released on December 19th. " was changed hours later to "Decisions will be OFFICIALLY released on December 19th." leads me to believe that some (or all) of those accepted will hear before Wed 9AM

You wouldn't like to step into those soldiers' shoes for that day, ops you've done it...

I'm really thinking to pretend tomorrow that nothing is happening and only look for the results on wed, not sure if I'm that strong.

Cookie,

Not belittling your post or anything..
I think the official part simply adheres to GSB's claim of all results going out at 9 am Wed.

Unofficially a lot of folks will hear the drum beats tomorrow...

kwam,
I am weak...Like the ring..the "precious" cellphone has possessed me... I will be checking everything tomorrow..

I have a new version for the second essay:

"If I could I'd like to step into Rhyme's shoes, as he is already at GSB an he doesn't have to keep pressing F5, staring at his cel phone, and always answering your friends that you still haven't heard a thing about the results".

My day isn't that much more fun:

Wake up at 9.00am: Check email. Good lord there's a huge pile. Reach out to partner at big name consulting firm who asked me to email him when I got back into town. Surprisingly the email back says he's out of the office through mid FEBRUARY... not sure what to do about that... oops.

10:00am: Get a phone call from a number I don't recognize. Answer it. It's another consulting firm, claiming to call to "learn more about my background" and that "this isn't an interview". By the time the questions have moved from "walk me through your resume" to "what interests you about us?", its pretty clear im on the spot. I scramble together a few hodgepodge ideas, none of which are particularly stellar responses. I hang up having pretty much screwed that opportunity.

11:00am: Complete a job application for a firm, pdfing resumes and such. Send it in.

12:15pm: Receive notification I've made the closed list (note: it never happens this fast normally, usually its weeks later). Rejoice for 10 minutes and move on to the next app. Struggle with the cover letter for an hour and send that in.

1:30pm: Start work on remaining emails, filing away tasks for the rest of this week. That takes amazingly, an hour to complete. Go back to the application list, start another app.....

.....

it basically goes on like this
