Is anyone planning to stay a few days before or after KEW to look at places to live in Bloomington?
Lots of students live in the Mercury and The Kirkwood... Great places to live for a grad student (although a little pricey), and are a great location as both are relatively close to the happening spots downtown.
Fountain Park is nice, but if you do like to go out, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. I know some students love it there, while others regret the decision, due to its location.
When i went to IU in my "other" life I lived at Fountain Park. IMHO, it was a pretty good place to live. and a better location for Kelley than my other school (on the other side of campus). IMHO, it doesn't take long to get from FP to bars or what not as Bloomington is a very mall place. For those w/o a car or otherwise want to take the IU bus system to school, Fountain Park is on 10th street, the same street as Kelley, and there is a straight shot bus line that goes there. It is near the golf course, so I tried to get a round of golf in whenever I could too. Of course, I don't think they take dogs, so that is out for me this time around.
I just checked out Mercury and Kirkwood. I'm not a fan of high rises (even if "high" means like 4 floors
), so unfortunately I don't think those are my cup of tea.
Cheers,
Tom
