Sigh - just got an email about the offices being closed from the 24th to the 8th. Presumably there will still be invites then? I'm getting pretty worried. Berkeley is my first choice, and I thought I was a perfect fit, but it's not looking good. I've been avoiding these "Woe is me" posts, but that email really got my hopes up when I saw it in my Inbox...

Here's the email text:

Quote:
Thank you again for your interest in the Berkeley MBA program. We are busy reviewing applications and preparing for the University's winter break, and we want to share some important information with you.

We have been extending interview invitations to Round 1 applicants, and we will continue to send out Round 1 interview invitations on a rolling basis through most of January. Since we review applications within each round in random order, there is no significance to the date on which you may receive an interview invitation. Most Round 1 applicants from the United States will be invited to interview on campus during our "Super Saturday" event on January 17th . Applicants living outside the US will have the opportunity to interview with an alumni interviewer in their country of residence. Round 2 applicants will begin receiving interview invitations beginning in February. Please note that interviews are by invitation only. The Round 3 application deadline is January 30th.

The visitation program for the fall semester has ended. Our daily on-campus information sessions will resume on Tuesday, January 20th, and our class visitation program and lunches with current MBA students will be available beginning February 4th . If you wish to schedule a visit, detailed information is available here.

Please note that the Full-time MBA Admissions Office will close for the winter break on Wednesday, December 24th at noon and will re-open at 9:00 am on January 5th. We will not be responding to voicemail or e-mail messages during the break. We look forward to serving you when we return to campus in January.

Best wishes for a very happy holiday and new year!

I attended New York City coffee chat last night. It was great. The speaker did a great job answering about thirty people. I was surprised by the number of people who showed up despite the cold weather. She mentioned about many costume parties at Haas. How interesting... kryzak, what's your costume?

Happy Holidays everyone!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Haha, glad you enjoyed it! The SF event also had 25-30 people show up, and we were able to get 4 students to talk to the applicants. It was a VERY FUN event and I highly encourage everyone who can go to one!

As for costume parties, haha, yeah, we were joking that there needs to be a student budget line for "costumes" in our financial aid application. I unfortunately missed Halloween, but we did have a cool party where you're supposed to wear clothing of one single color. That was a fun time. Remember, Goodwill/Salvation Army will be your friends in b-school. :P

Congrats Chick! Happy Holidays to all and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions about SS. Post the questions here if you believe my answers will help other applicants, or PM me if your question is of a more private/personal nature.

Cheers!

Are there any R3 applicants for Haas? Is it too late to apply in R3 - ie are most seats already filled up by this time...how does R3 compare with R1 and R2?

It's not too late, but from my understanding most spots get filled during r1 & r2 at the more competative schools. If you have the time you might as well apply.

I'm applying R3. Berkeley is unique in that it has 4 rounds. My understanding is that most of their spots get filled during R2 & R3, so you should be fine :)

I will be there along with my classmates. Give out shout out here if you're going so we can meet up!

BTW, there *may* be a chance in venue to another coffee shop in Berkeley. Please keep your eye out for an email from Kara Hayman if there is.

What time is the Coffee Chat? I'd love to meet up. Also, are there ever events on weekends or in South Bay or SF?
