yes, there are many options for interviews. SS is not the be-all and end-all of interviews with Haas. :)

Alums can interview you in your local city (especially for people far away), students can interview you on campus (come for a class visit, lunch, and infosession, it's fun!), and of course, there's Super Saturday.

According to the blog, there are still 2 weeks more of invitations going out, so no need to panic (I know it's difficult, I was in your shoes last year). :)

Just wanted to post my update to the stats! I just received an interview invitation today, which was a bit of a relief/surprise since I had nearly given up hope of receiving an invite. For all you still waiting out there, yes they still are going out! Good luck!

As a side note, both options interview either SS or off-campus appeared on my interview request form, but either the option is no longer available or it is all full, so I had to sign up for the local alumni interview. I am a CA resident (LA area), so this might have something to do with it.

congrats rosav and calig!!! 35%, not bad! If the 50% holds this year, we'll have a 17.5% acceptance rate in R1 (overall rate might drop to 11% or lower this year).

Berkeley is strange.

Seriously. I cannot think of another school that makes its round 1 applicants wait so long to find out if they are even eligible for interviews.

I submitted a round 1 app to Michigan Ross on 10/10/08 and got a final decision today. Berkeley, on the other hand, nothing. Just strange

Let's see:

Michigan: 10/10 deadline, 1/13 notification, roughly 3 months.

Berkeley: 11/4 deadline, 1/28 notification, slightly less than 3 months. Me thinks I would pick Berkeley if I had to choose one to wait for.

But in all seriousness, Berkeley gets their decisions out within 10 days after the interviews, sometimes shorter, which is why their interviews are so late. The admissions committee takes their time reading through all the applications (by multiple adcoms) before they make the interview decision. It's a different process, and probably different amount of adcom members (not sure how many Michigan has).

So again, please be patient. All will be revealed in the next 2 weeks. :)

so, anyone else get an interview invite (not necessarily SS)?

Also, who's coming to SS? Let me know so I can look for you. :)

Good points Kryzak. I think the most frustrating point is that some invitations went out at the beginning of December, and supposedly others will go out the day of the deadline. That's 6 weeks of interviews dribbling out one-by-one. It's pure water torture. Every night I go to bed hoping I'll wake up to an email, and I never do. Of course disappointment is a part of the process (and I've priced in a Haas rejection  ), but does it really need to last for six weeks?

I hope not! I posted this a few pages back - has anyone heard of any international candidates getting invites?

What are people wearing to alumni interviews? My interview will take place after work at a coffee shop so I'm wondering if a suit is necessary or if nice business casual will suffice.

I'd go with a suit - better to be overdressed than under...

monkbent: yeah, I hear ya. Trust me, it is a torture to wait for these things. But then again, many top schools do it. Stanford takes 6 weeks to send out interview invites, Kellogg sends out acceptances over a 6 week period (I got accepted R2 in the FINAL week of their notices, think of that torture! :P), and so forth. It just a fact of life that it does take time for adcoms to read your application completely and make a sound judgment. Since your app is laying on their table in random fashion, it's really whenever they get to it and if they like it, you get an invite. Pretty similar for most schools.

MBAAspirant: I don't have insights, but BW forums are reporting some invites in India and such, so I think they've been sent out. Whether they're done or not, your guess is as good as mine. :)

caligl: business casual should be good enough. I always made it a point to ask my interviewer what he/she prefers and they usually tell me. If in doubt, do business casual with a tie. Full suit at a coffee shop is a bit of an overkill, especially for a Haas interview, unless you're interviewing with a current IBanker or something. :) Good luck!

yes, I was truthful, and all the Haas students that I asked when I was applying were truthful too. It won't affect your candidacy, since all of us probably applied to Stanford, Harvard, Wharton, Kellogg and Chicago anyways. :)
