i guess it's tough to get the discussions going when we only have 1 admit so far... Stanford is really tough this year.

Not expecting to hear anything except ding personally. Although it was always a long-shot. So haven't really thought about stanford. When do interview invites usually finish by? 2 weeks before decision?

Just wanted to post my impressions of Admit Weekend. I've been to Stanford before, but never the GSB, so these are really my first impressions. 1. Wow. The weekend was a ton of fun, and I met a bunch of amazing (and really cool) people. I undoubtedly fell for the message they were trying to pitch, but I came away with the feeling that anything's possible at the GSB. It's this tremendous energy, an almost inspired feeling. Yeah, I know... I fell hook, line, and sinker 2. The GSB classrooms and building are nothing to write home about. In fact, they're pretty lame. But you can step right out of the classrooms and onto the lovely Stanford campus And Schwab (the first-year dorm) is really nice. 3. I know weather isn't supposed to play a role in admit/matriculation decisions... but jeez, after four years in New England and three days of California sunshine, I'm hooked. 4. No info on application volume or other stats, unfortunately. Derrick said he'd tell us about that stuff at matriculation. Happy to answer any questions, of course. And good luck to everyone waiting on interviews and decisions!

WONDERFUL Terry! It was great to meet you in person and I'm glad Stanford kept up with your high expectations. I look forward to hanging out with you more and forming this "West Coast Posse" this fall! Now if we can only get kwam admitted!!!

Congratulations! You definitely have a shot... best of luck!
And don't stress too much. I suppose there are always exceptions, but Stanford interviews are known for being pretty laid back.

thanks for the support and encouragement
i am trying to stay calm...
this note was included in the invitation letter as part of the frequently asked questions section:
"Our intention is to interview each applicant ultimately offered admission to the Stanford MBA Program. Candidates invited to interview have been reviewed by the Admissions Committee and are considered competitive for admission. Given the overall strength of the applicant pool, however, we expect that the majority of candidates interviewed will not be offered admission. We say this not to be discouraging or mean-spirited, but to highlight the reality of a highly selective admission process."
hmmnn
by the way, does anyone know when the round 2 admit weekend is????

I think Stanford is just trying to be realistic and not lead the candidates on. But I think you have a great chance, ghgirl!

Kry, I think UTdub and elhajoui were invited for interviews as well.
Ghgirl, I did a perfunctory search of the admit website and couldn't find anything about R2 Admit Weekend...
