FIND THE NUMBER OF DAVE'S BROTHERS

(1) His parents have seven surviving children.
This statement gives us the total number of siblings
Total siblings:- Dave + 6 sibling =7 {Except dave all can be males or females or any other possibility}
INSUFFICIENT

(2) He has twice as many sisters as brothers.
This statement gives us the ratio of brothers and sisters of Dave
Total siblings = Dave + 2x sisters+x brothers {x can be any positive integer }
INSFFICIENT

Merge both
dave + 2x+x=7
1+3x=7
3x=7-1
3x=6
x=2

Number of brother DAVE have =2

SUFFICIENT

ANSWER C

Not a trap at all

Question is asking "Have" not "had"

"Surviving" is redundant and does not makes an iota of difference in the answer.

No of brother is 2
ANSWER IS C
This is not Critical reasoning. :-D

I think the question should be changed. Any native speaker if asked will say he has "2 brothers, but 1 is dead" meaning they will still include the dead siblings as sibilings
