Re: Any Value of Attending Top Business School?? [#permalink]
Average starting salaries/career earnings are highly influenced by where one gets his/her MBA. A good friend and I were likely admits to what was 2 years ago a (barely) top 30 business school in U.S. News Rankings, which has since fallen, but neither of us really considered going to this school. This school required no work experience which was a huge plus, but after much research and deliberation, both my friend and I decided that neither of us would want to go to a business school if we could not get into a top 20 program, top 15 preferably. I typically hate elitist attitudes, but after seeing how hard it is to break into the world of finance doing the type of work I want to do, I guess that this is one time where it will probably pay to be highly selective.

Thanks for being honest and sharing your opinions. I totally agree with what you are all saying. Its definitely tough to get a job from a 2nd Tier program. Elitism is terrible, but I guess we have to accept that it exists.
