Some Q&A for wait-listed applicants (from the Ask Admissions Director page):
1) If someone is wait-listed, when is his application reviewed again?
2) Are the wait-listed candidates considered for scholarship?
3) Are the wait-listed candidates invited to the scholarship weekend if the final decision comes before the event?

1. Decisions are guaranteed by late spring (indicated in the notification letter) but the waiting list will likely be reviewed in mid to late March along with candidates who have applied for our Jan. 5th deadline. We may issue offers if we have space. Otherwise, we will continue to hold your application and consider during the April/May timeframe as we get responses from those students who already have an offer.
2. Yes, Wait list candidates may be considered for scholarship support. Scholarships are merit-based and an offer would depend on both the absolute and relative assessment of the application compared with candidates already admitted. A fairly high number (more than 75%) of our incoming students receive some sort of funding from Simon for the full-time MBA.
3. While it is possible to be invited to Scholarship Weekend from the waiting list, it is probably not likely due to timing issues (the second weekend is in early April). If a student cannot be invited to Scholarship Weekend but is otherwise competitive, we will go out with our best offer of scholarship support without requiring the candidate to come to campus.

Why are you in a hurry to apply?
You have only 1 year of WE and you are probably very young.
Time is on your side.

Waitlisted after Interview with Eileen at Rochester.

I have only one question now. If a waitlisted candidate is offered an Admit on Decision Day of the next Round, does he have any chance of also securing a scholarship? High hopes, I know :)

Hi Punters11,

I also interviewed with Eileen.
Would you please share your timeline? Which round did you apply for?

It seems that people who get in or wl get their notifications soon after their interviews.
Alright, I will stop expecting to hear anything good from this school.

Don't lose hope, it's not true that everyone who gets in or wl gets notification soon after i/v. I was interviewed in Jan and got notification in mid Feb and I heard the same from few other people. So, keep your fingers crossed and I hope you will get the good news soon.

For the wait-listed candidates, from the Admissions Director in another thread:
---- Can you please let me know, what would your suggestions be for a wait-listed candidate?

Great question and definitely timely as that sometimes happens in the winter/spring, even to well-qualified candidates. Here are a few thoughts - definitely pay attention to whatever instructions that Admissions office offers on their WL policy. For example, do you have to confirm your interest to be on the WL, do they accept updated materials, do they give feedback, do they allow you to visit campus, etc. If you have the opportunity to provide an update, definitely take advantage of that as it can be a nice signal to the AdCom that you are engaged and interested. Have a brutally honest self-assessment and if there is something that you can do to improve your candidacy focus on that. Sometimes it is retaking the GMAT, other times, writing an essay that addresses a work-gap, or your plan to make a more radical career change realistic. Try to view your candidacy from the eyes of the AdCom - we want to admit students who are excited about our program and ultimately going to reflect well on the school and be satisfied students/alums. When we WL a candidate its often a subjective assessment concern, or in other times, it may be getting a read on the size/class makeup before we put out additional offers. But many schools do admit off the WL - so don't give up hope!
