For the wait-listed candidates, from the Admissions Director in another thread:
---- Can you please let me know, what would your suggestions be for a wait-listed candidate?
Great question and definitely timely as that sometimes happens in the winter/spring, even to well-qualified candidates. Here are a few thoughts - definitely pay attention to whatever instructions that Admissions office offers on their WL policy. For example, do you have to confirm your interest to be on the WL, do they accept updated materials, do they give feedback, do they allow you to visit campus, etc. If you have the opportunity to provide an update, definitely take advantage of that as it can be a nice signal to the AdCom that you are engaged and interested. Have a brutally honest self-assessment and if there is something that you can do to improve your candidacy focus on that. Sometimes it is retaking the GMAT, other times, writing an essay that addresses a work-gap, or your plan to make a more radical career change realistic. Try to view your candidacy from the eyes of the AdCom - we want to admit students who are excited about our program and ultimately going to reflect well on the school and be satisfied students/alums. When we WL a candidate its often a subjective assessment concern, or in other times, it may be getting a read on the size/class makeup before we put out additional offers. But many schools do admit off the WL - so don't give up hope!
