Congratulations on your admits and I’m sorry for missing your post. Congratulations on the wonderful of acceptance offers and scholarships!
You are right. For marketing and CPG, it’s really hard to recruit as international. Most of this companies do not sponsor 🫣 so it is a tough career path. The chances are against you compared to consulting or finance or tech. I would also add that consulting salary tend to be much stronger than what CPG offers. However, having a scholarship really helps.
In terms of consulting, all of the schools are eligible for MBB recruiting. That is great news and hopefully with your marketing background you can ace those interviews.
Honestly I like Nashville and Vanderbilt in this case. Vanderbilt has a very strong name in the south as an undergrad. Some people called it the Harvard of the south. You have potentially some strong opportunities because you’re not in the middle of nowhere. You can work in the city and maybe an internship. However, this only makes sense if you are planning to stick around Nashville and want to work for a company based in Nashville so you need to do quick research and check the opportunities because they are not as plentiful. Lots of people have been moving to Nashville however. Not a bad place to live.
Being in the city also has drawbacks because there are a lot of distractions for everyone to spread around and you don’t have much of a community. I would highly recommend living in student housing or somewhere so you’re not isolated. I also recommend against roommates from your own country. if you are an international, the worst thing you can do is live with another international but everyone does it. That is why living in a dorm or assigned student housing where you have no choice, is a great option. You are forced to meet and assimilate.
Bottom line, I think your choice makes sense. If you’re not trying to go into tech then Foster doesn’t make too much sense. I would choose between these two.
