Just got an email from Columbia! My heart went racing.
Opened it...

its a thank you letter from the ad-com for attending her session in LA. She says she looks forward to review my application. I guess its a generic letter since I had put her contact in the application form as one of the persons who I spoke with.

False alarm

.....I am now swinging between high hope and severe anxiety.

Anybody else got such letters like this?

I got a similar thank you note for attending their session in SF. However, no anxiety on my part since I haven't submitted Columbia's app yet.

I talked to a few adcom people at Col today (And I also heard the Iran president speak at the Univ. Talk about perfect timing. Will post more details about the visit later). They told me that around 5 people were offered admission so far, and they expect another 5 people to be offered admission by the time my interview finishes (1st - 6th Oct).

That sounds a little slow. So a total of 10 admits in two weeks. I guess I should complain, cause it means more sets left for me and you.

Ya seems quite low to me too. But the deadline is on October 10, so there will be more seats filling up after that.
Thanks for the heads up.

Two more people got into ED round. One was a re-applicant (no interview this time!) and the other guy was a new applicant.

Things have started rolling now.

Yeah .. I guess their current objective is to get as many people for ED/early RD applications to Columbia as possible. Then from Oct onwards, they'll focus on giving admits as well. Moreover, they can't give admits when Linda is visiting other places. So expect a burst of admits in the next couple of weeks. Specially after the deadline is over.

I was told that if my interviewer submits information by 6th Oct, I should expect a result by 15-20 Oct. I was also told that if someone is called for an interview, then that means that the application has gone through two reviews already. The last and final review happens after interview. Hope that helps.

Did they say anything about the situation in which they skip interviews? The guy who didnt interview was a reapplicant. I am re-applicant as well, hence I am wondering.

where are you guys finding out about all these admits? BW forums? Admit411?

Anyway, anyone who applies before 10/10 is ED, right? Just wondering.

Nope, you have to specifically apply ED, which is binding.

I did. The Honor Code section at the end asks you whether you want to be bound by ED or not. I thought most people who applied in R1 do ED, maybe I'm wrong.

I confused the 10/10 date with ED automatically. I guess you all are just applying early. =)
