Read the BW Forum, and it looks like some dings were handed out today. I did not see any GMAT Club members post anything, so it looks like we're still in tact--unless you use a different name on the BW Forum, which is blasphemous considering the great names we have on this forum! In fact, I would like to hear the significance of some of our user names. For me, I was a DJ in college and House is my nickname (no, I'm not fat as house, and, no, I did not spin house music).

Back to the BW Forum...I did notice that a lot of the admits were sub-700 and some of the dings were 700+. I don't recall the rest of the stats, but it looks like those the other app elements played a big role in the decisions. But, damn, those ding posts were a little unnerving.

I am getting a bit jittery. J-Term starts in January, I still haven't heard back, its been around 4-5 weeks now. They finalize a decision in 8 weeks. I am psyching myself for a ding, by focusing on Wharton essays :(

All of us are so focused on admits and dings, that no one is thinking about waitlists.

one person reported that he got waitlisted at CBS.

There seems to some moment from the admissions office, so lets all hope that we hear what we are waiting for!

I woke up this morning and rushed to my emails (I read somewhere that Columbia makes changes in status at 8-9 am usually). I saw three emails from Columbia stating that my status has changed. My heart started beating so fast! I quickly went to their website (Thank you, iMacros for firefox), crossing fingers, uttering "please please please please ...". It turned out that they just received the interview feedback, so my status is now "Interview is complete. Thank you for interviewing".

Now I know why 2007ers used to get cardiac arrests at getting even junk emails from their dream schools. :(

Well, you try to sell yourself to the school, and the interviewer tries to sell the school to you.

My interview was very comfortable and friendly. It was more like two people discussing one's background and goals and how Columbia was going to help. If you have been talking to alumni of schools where you are applying, then you'd find this interview to be just another one of those talks.

ps. I posted this when I came back from the interview:

Quote:
I am back from the interview. I think it went pretty well. Most of the time we discussed about my experiences between working for large firms and working for start-ups, and my goals and how the MBA will help me with the goals. Pretty interesting discussion, in all. I should start looking for a final result now. Hopefully I'll hear something positive within a few weeks.

I would suggest (Although different people might have different opinion here) that you do not prepare too much for the interview. Just know your application (Revise it once) and be natural. All the best!

Got a change in status (Wow these guys are very quick when it comes to working on my application -- I got a change of status within a week of interviewing).

I've been waitlisted. I kinda knew that I'd be waitlisted. Darn .. I would have loved to get an admit there. Oh well, time to look at other schools while Columbia "compares me with the larger pool".

Thats ridiculous. CBS should either accept or ding ED applicants outright. Seems unfair that they try to limit your options by requiring a deposit, but dont give you the benefit of applying in ED.

But hey, a waitlist is much better than a ding. All the best!

Hey mNeo, sorry to hear about the waitlist, but as NC said, it's better than not getting in! I also can't believe they took your deposit and still waitlisted you...

I dont think they take the initial deposit.. they only take it when the admit offer comes in

no change in my application.. its still under review.

I think at this point the ad-com is undecided whether to use my app as toilet paper or as paper rocket

I have a feeling it will end up as falafel wrap on Park Avenue...

any bets on this
