I think undergraduate work experience could just be listed in your resume if it's significant. Also, your optional essay shouldn't be all spent on explaining your low GPA, otherwise that may start to sound like you're finding excuses.
Was your undergraduate work experience the reason you got a low GPA? Maybe you can talk about it that way?
Ok thanks, but UCLA wants a standard resume and not expanded one right?
Yes, it was one of the reasons, however the work content itself was also significant enough that I feel would add to my overall career profile, instead of just saying somewhere I worked part-time and it killed my GPA.
As for my optional essay, I tried to not make excuses but rather talk from the point of view of "why I would succeed at MBA despite low undergrad grades", and I talk about reaons like working part-time during undergrad which I won't do during MBA, challenged myself with a tough major in undergrad to learn more, increasing trend in grades showing maturity, taking extra post-grad class etc.
Do you think that's ok or does that sound like making excuses?
Thanks!
