Re: Admitted to Wharton Class of 2011! [#permalink]
Just an update on my case: Kroll contacted me Friday about not being able to get my salary from my previous job, and so I faxed some paystubs out to them.

Haven't heard anything since...

I'm starting to get mildly annoyed by this process..

jjright - it looks like the 2 of us are on the exact same timeline.

I was contacted on friday for paychecks and all too - which I faxed them over ASAP and I got a confirmation from them that they have recieved everything on Friday itself.

After that its back to the waiting game, I can't believe I am actually "paying" to have this done. Pretty lackadaisical and inefficient this Kroll is.

Somehow I had built up Kroll to be an FBI like organization... Its inability to confirm my salary (which no new employer has ever had a problem doing) certainly left me with a desire to be reimbursed...

Its been 3 weeks since I faxed in my form and payed the amount. I guess they have 5 more weeks to get their act together...

Kroll took a lot of people 4-6 weeks last year. It is a major pain but the last hurdle. Just try not to worry about it too much...I think I lost a night of sleep last year because of it and then decided that the anxiety just wasn't worth it. In my case, one of my former companies went out of business so there really wasn't any way to contact them. I wrote that in my application where you write the phone number ("N/A - company out of business") but it was still nerve racking.

In the end, remember that there have only been a few people who have gotten their admissions denied because of Kroll and it was for very obvious and egregrious infractions.

If things are relatively normal, you should be fine.

My boss just got a letter in the mail, thanking her for her rec...

I wish theyd send me a letter thanking me for my patience with this kroll gig....

I guess this is one of the many ways how they catch people who forge their own recs

I am sitting in my office feeling bummed about missing out on the Winter Welcome due to work. Anyone else in the same boat?

And if you are in the welcome weekend - how the heck is it going?!?

jjright - no news on Kroll on my end still. I guess I have given up too and am ready to wait the 8 weeks out. Dumbb

BTW - anyone here applied for the needaccess and scholarships already? I wanna do all that by this weekend, wondering how painful or easy the process is.

Needaccess is a giant pain, because the instructions are not clear. You also need a 500-word essay.

Needaccess is a total headache. Many of the questions are very poorly worded.

No news from Kroll here either.

Anyone heard from Kroll yet? 4 weeks for me now. I already faxed all my paystubs and employment letters in 2 weeks ago

I'm thinking....maybe the Committee will meet to review all the people with discrepancies (however minor) in one sitting. And maybe they won't do that until March.

Anyone ask the school by any chance?

Still waiting on kroll as well.

I decided to go to Winter Welcome at the last minute and I have to say that was a great decision. The school was definitely a better fit than I expected judging by how much fun I had (still don't have my voice back from networking/partying). You really start to understand the quality of the school when you're there with current students and they lay out everything that is available to you. One interesting note is that they have made significant administrative changes that are leading the school back towards a focus on overall student life. Since I am focused on the experience as much as I am on the academics, it was nice to hear. The other part I liked was that not only does it have a large class size, but everyone tends to live in a condensed area (albeit Philly). This seemed to make the community of students more close knit and more available to hang out with consistently. It made me realize I need to be wary of schools with a high commuter contingent. I also need to mention that even though I could care less about anything theatrical, Follies was pretty damned funny. They really rip into students and don't hold back on humor targeted at everyone from the Dean to internationals to slutty chicks. Just wish I could've gone to Pub and also the Follies performance that all the students costume up for. I'll have to wait for April Welcome Weekend.

Anybody else go? Maybe we met. I am pretty sure Audio and I had a few drinks together now that I re-read a couple posts.

Wow. Sounds like you had a great time! Makes me kindof regret not going.

I will be attending the April event (stupid boss *needed* me here during WW).

Yeah I just made plans to come back for the next WW to meet more people and deal with housing. There will be more admits in April anyway, so not a big deal to miss this one. The best part is it doesn't seem so foreign to me anymore, but it also is making the wait that much harder.
