Submitted last night, and received the status change that it was being printed in prepare for review...so hopefully they can push out a decision sooner rather than later...I can't think of anything more satisfying than wrapping this up.

Good to hear of some more "Under Reviews." Let's hope the admissions gods are with us this year :)
Also, is anyone going to attend this event? I just RSVPed.

Columbia Business School Office of Admissions
and the Hermes Society
cordially invite you to an on-campus panel discussion:

"Why an MBA?"
Wednesday, September 9th at 6:30 pm
Low Memorial Library, Rotunda
535 West 116th Street
(between Broadway and Amsterdam)
New York, NY 10027

Please take this opportunity to listen to and ask questions of Columbia Business School alumni and students from various backgrounds and industries, as they talk about why they decided to get an MBA.

To RSVP for this event, please click here.

Note: Because of the high number of RSVPs that we see for this event, seating is available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Alternative programming will be available to accommodate any overflow.

While we recognize that the distance may be too great for some of you to travel for this reception, we wanted to extend the invitation to all in case you happen to be in the area during this time.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Does anyone know much about the interview process? Do most applicants get invited to interview? Or a certain percentage?

Thanks!

This is from an interview with Linda Meehan, the Director of Admissions at CBS.
https://blog.clearadmit.com/2008/11/admi ... da-meehan/

CA: Walk us through the life of an application in your office from an operational standpoint. What happens between the time an applicant clicks “submit” and the time the committee offers a final decision (e.g. how many “reads” does it get, how long is each read, who reads it, does the committee convene to discuss it as a group, etc.)?

LM: An individual application may be reviewed independently by two to three individual members of the admissions committee before the application is presented to the larger admissions committee for a final decision to be rendered.

At any given point during the reading process, the first reader, the second reader or the third reader may request for an interview invitation to be extended, but the application also may make its way to the final admissions committee before an interview invitation is extended. Interviews are generally conducted by alumni in the applicant’s local area. Interviews are blind so the only information an interviewer has about the applicant is that which is shared by the applicant. Generally, an applicant will send a resume to the interviewer.

Once the application has been reviewed, the larger admissions committee, which I chair, will render a final decision on an application.

Hope this helps....
And see you at the Panel Novian.

Thanks, xclick! Do you know if most who are accepted go through an interview first? Not sure if you've heard from current students or those recently accepted. I checked last the 2009 forum and it looks like the 2 applicants that were accepted for ED both had to interview. I know your article says that at any point, an invitation to interview MAY be requested - but I'm wondering if this is a rare or frequent occurance. Just want to know if this is something I should prepare for...

Malik, almost all if not all of those who are accepted are interviewed. The only exception would be if you are a re-applicant and had interviewed the first time around. So yea, you should prepare for it.

This is correct for first-time applicants, however, I believe that it is different for re-applicants. From what I've seen, approximately half of re-applicants that are accepted are re-interviewed, and about half of them are accepted outright if they interviewed last year and had a good interview.

We need to get lives :)

At least we'll have them starting in October if all goes well, and not December/January like everyone else?
