The event had a huge turn out as expected. The panel shared interesting info about the entrepreneurship at cbs, executives in residence, career transitions and also the major advantage of being in NY. Though nothing which can't be found on the website or through blogs of current students. A friend mentioned that the event should've been called Why Columbia MBA instead, but that's not surprising. I expected it to pitch CBS and not just any MBA degree of course!

I'll be there!

Is anyone else going to the Columbia "Why MBA?" Panel tomorrow?

Enjoy guys. I'm not in NY otherwise I would swing by. Please share any interesting insights afterwards.[/quote]

Couple basic Q's regarding the Employment section:

1) In the Duties/Responsibilities box, should I write something different than what I've included on my resume? I imagine most people already summarize this exact information on their resumes, no? Is the adcom looking for something else?

2) I've worked at the same employer since graduation and have gotten two promotions. Should I create three listings with mostly the same information (title, salary and responsibilities change slightly over time) or one listing that summarizes it all?

Thanks in advance,

Roger

CBS was always one of my top picks for apps (will be applying in 2010), but I'd like to add that Jay-Z and Alicia Key's duet and ode to New York at the VMAs last night really makes me want to study, work, and live in the big apple! Obviously not a major contributing factor, but it made me reflect on what a cool city NYC is.

Congratulations!! That was very quick for you - only 3 weeks from the time you went under review.

I was thinking the same thing. At this point I really want to schedule the interview ASAP and just know one way or another. Obviously this is my first choice, so hopefully it'll all get sorted out quickly.

Good plan of attack. I'd reach out to 4-5 potential interviewers and see who responds and has availabiltiy first.

Best of luck!

Seeing as how I'm in NYC, should I still be doing an off-campus interview, or will they suggest an on-campus?
