Do you guys have any suggestions on strategy for the waitlist. Does it help to send a update essay now and a recommendation 3-4 weeks later and probably another one 3-4 weeks later if status doesnt change?

I would first contact the Admissions Office next week to speak with your wait list manager and discuss any potential areas of concern that could be addressed. I've heard of some applicants being given specific feedback which allowed them to understand and respond to what Adcom felt was lacking in their applications, be it professional growth, refined career goals, or higher test scores. Waitlisted for the 1Y program at Kellogg... If i understand correctly, not many admits would want to forego their seats at Kellogg mostly because the only other better 1Y program (as per some rankings) is Insead. Post that there is Oxford and Emory. So it is all the more difficult for the 1Y waitlisters to get through...

If anyone has any insight on why more of these 1Y admits would want to forego their seats at kellogg, pls share.

What's to say 1Y Kellogg applicants won't apply to 2Y MBA programs?

I wonder if we get this much time in case of R2 waitlist? Since in its letter Ad com has given dates for admission or deny 19th April and May (don't remember exactly but perhaps second week of may). So that means what ever you have to do , you gotta do before April 19th, isn't it?

since the 1y mba program starts by mid june, i'm assuming that kellogg would probably notify all international applicants at least one and a half month in advance for visa processing and everything else...but on the other hand the deposit deadline on their website for the accepted applicants is 2nd May.

this doesn't really fit does it? what do you think is happening?

any idea wat are the waitlist conversion rate and how large is waitlist

or 200 +
or 500+
or 1000+

Historically it is between 100-150 and supposedly they admit from 30-50 students off the waitlist. Not sure if they replace candidates with same profile or they admit candidates with overall stronger application similar to ranking system.

I always wonder whether such stats include peeps who remove themselves from the WL.

If you take out the students who remove themselves from the waitlist the acceptance rate is close to ~40%. It might work better for someone who has another offer in hand and letting to forgo it for kellogg offer. For folks who have no other offers and waiting for kellogg they might consider students with significant updates since their application more seriously. These are just my thoughts reading around the web.

That percentage seems super high. An admissions consultant just told me that getting off of Kellogg's wait list is pretty difficult, that they hardly ever need to dip into it. Can you share your source?

My waitlist letter says that they do admit students from waitlist. Apart from a fluctuation in the yield rate I heard there are some students who might forgo the deposit if they decide to delay their mba or apply to other schools in early rounds. 40 % acceptance is based on the students who actually followup with the committe and show persistance upto sometimes august.

Have any R2 WL candidates received information regarding their POC for admission today yet? The FAQs suggested we wait until this week to contact the Adcom and I thought may provide us with a POC to contact.

You have to call the Adcom in order to understand the name of your POC

Is anybody else having the same problem I am?

I keep calling and calling, but nobody ever picks up. The message on the other line makes one believe their offices are closed.

Any ideas?
