Any tips or advice you can give me to present my case the right way?
HBS looks for 3 things in a candidate: leadership, intellectual capacity, and community engagement. The first 2 are self-explanatory. They are roughly in order of priority, ie leadership and academic ability are a prerequisite to admission. There is no circumventing these 2 qualities and no making up for them by demonstrating a lot of community involvement, for example.
By 'community engagement' they really want to see that a candidate has EMPATHY. It's a rare quality where someone shows genuine concern for others. This quality manifests itself in the obvious ways like a pattern of volunteerism, for example. Or, it manifests itself more subtly as when you mentor a co-worker or tactfully resolve a dispute, for example.
Given these 3 attributes, you need to pick which ones you want to emphasize for your particular case. See my blog post on picking the right themes for your essay.
