C for me. One is comparing here 'requirement of 14 days' with 'requirement of 7 days' so than that of seems to be right to me.

I also choose E. Here is the difference between shorten and lessen:

Shorten: for anything that can be numerically measured or anything that can be physically abstracted.

lessen: for anything that can't be numerically measured and also for amounts of money.

because we're dealing with the number of days, which can be numerically measured in terms of number of days, "shorten" is appropriate.

C. also shortens the advance-purchase requirement for family travel to a minimum of seven days rather than that of-> that of is useless we are comparing no. of days with no.of days

D. also lessens the advance-purchase requirement for family travel to a seven-day minimum from we are talking about countable days hence shortens is better

E. also shortens the advance-purchase requirement for family travel to a minimum of seven days rather than -> IMO
