like I said before, it's Stanford's loss not to admit people like grad_mba (and me :P)

And me! I know I didn't even apply .. but it's their fault that they didn't have the R2 deadline in Feb 08. I needed a month to write the dreaded "What matters to you". Losers!

After my Wharton ding, I'm not holding my breath!

Good luck to all. Look forward to hearing who gets in.

UTDub - I know people who have been dinged by W and got into S. So no worries.
What's your other option otherwise? Chi. or Kellogg I assume (unless you got into HBS)?

NO other option :). I only applied to H, S and W. I was dinged by HBS w/out an interview and dinged by Wharton after an on-campus interview which I thought went much better than my Stanford interview. I enjoy my current job, where I live, etc and only wanted to apply to schools which I really wanted to attend so those were the three I chose. So after going 0 for 2, I'm not expecting much!

I don't think it's safe to assume there is a correlation between H / S / W. I also got dinged at HBS w/o interview and dinged at Wharton after an interview that went well. Stanford, I think, is a different beast. There's probably a venn diagram here where each of the schools have an interest in one particular type of candidate and overlap in the middle. I am sure, however, that there is also a "Stanford only candidate" that could only get into Stanford and not the other schools. Maybe I am deluding myself...

I also have no back up yet and it is driving me crazy. I went 4/5 getting interviews -- so far 2 dings after interview, Stanford tomorrow, and Columbia sometime soon (I hope). I will be very sad if I go 0/4 after interview.

I agree with Sudden, though I know of someone got H,S,W and Sloan in R1. And he's an Indian male engineer :-)

Jeez, I have no idea...

CONJECTURE ALERT
Remember, there were a lot of interviews issued in the last few weeks, which I think is a bit unusual. Maybe that's a sign that the Adcom was really swamped with applications. So perhaps they're still making final decisions at this point. I dunno, just a guess.

I think that's a great point, terry. My interview was one week ago today, and I have read interviews with Bolten where he says the adcom frequently sits around "debating for hours" about whether to admit a particular candidate. That may or may not be true (I never know what is marketing and what is real when it comes to b-school admissions), but even if they had only 50 interviews to evaluate last week (I just made that number up, I have no idea), that's still a lot of extra data to churn through in one week. Not to mention the fact that they are trying to incorporate that data into a "portfolio context" of other applicants they want to admit.

Personally, I am not sure which is worse -- knowing that calls are NOT going out and that some of the decisions (perhaps mine) could be delayed, or realizing that calls ARE going out (not currently) and that I haven't received one.

I'll say it again -- good luck everyone. Even if you are not admitted, remember that you are a strong candidate or you would not have received an interview at the most selective b-school in the world. A lot of deserving people get turned away every year, and that will be particularly true this year. This is what I keep trying to tell myself, anyway.

All quiet on the western front...

Place your bets:

1) Calls will at least begin, if not be entirely finished, today. If so, they better hustle up since it is already 2:30 EST.
2) Calls will begin tomorrow or we will all be notified at once through the website.
3) We will find out today or tomorrow that the decision date is delayed.

Personally, I am going with 2, but who knows, it's totally speculative.

I think #3 would be a very bad PR move on Stanford's behalf (esp. with those student who need to respond to Wharton/HBS by May 1), but I would rather have them make informed decisions a few days late than "rushing' the process.

I'd say #2 is the most likely at this point.

Crossing fingers...Good luck everyone.

I think apps are up this round (it took folks a while to submit once the credit crunch started but they all did in R2) and they will truly notify everyone the day the website says they will this year - i.e. tomorrow.
