Child s World, a chain of toy stores, has relied on a [#permalink]

Question Stats:
40% (00:00) correct
60% (00:26) wrong based on 0 sessions
Child’s World, a chain of toy stores, has relied on a “supermarket concept” of computerized inventory control and customer self-service to eliminate the category of sales clerks from its force of employees. It now plans to employ the same concept in selling children’s clothes.
The plan of Child’s World assumes that
(A) supermarkets will not also be selling children’s clothes in the same manner (B) personal service by sales personnel is not required for selling children’s clothes successfully (C) the same kind of computers will be used in inventory control for both clothes and toys at Child’s World (D) a self-service plan cannot be employed without computerized inventory control (E) sales clerks are the only employees of Child’s World who could be assigned tasks related to inventory control
Please can some one try this?

IMO, in C., you can't assume that the same computers will be used with both forms of inventory. Child's World could use DELL computers for inventory control of toys and HP computers for inventory control of clothes. If C. had said it plans on using the same concept of inventory control then that would make sense, although that is stated clearly in the passage.

@sagarsabnis: IMO, the type of computer used is out of the context of the passage. I would label it too extreme. The passage is based on the inventory control system and how it eliminates the use of sales personnel. Since the company now plans to employ the same concept in selling children’s clothes, I think it can be assumed that this concept was successful with toys or the company would not plan to implement it with clothes. Therefore, since the successful selling of toys didn't require the personal service of sales people, the successful selling of clothes will not either. Hence, B.

Straight B. Easily proved by negation technique. Cheers, Der alte Fritz.
