My rolling admin hitlist:

If all of the above fail:

Mostly US two years (johnson, fuqua, yale, olin, tuck, darden) and Oxbridge. So far I have only submitted Olin (WashU) and Judge. Will submit Tuck and *hopefully* Johnson this week.

No, not really. I just don't like that school, especially after your experience with them. Don't get me wrong with this, I deeply respect them and I admire your persistance, but I just don't want to be in that boat.

There is nothing rational in my decision, but because I have some "bad feeling" about it, I don't want to waste my time applying to it. There is plenty of them, anyway, I will strugle with the deadlines even for some more favourable places.

To me a school is not defined how the adcom handles "prospects" (yes they are a business). JBS doesn't fair much better in this. Last year they didn't even officially ding a person I know on their waitlist until 2 days before classes started.

its the study, opportunities, students etc that makes a school what it is. Its like a football stadium, its a very exciting place, but to get in past the security guards (the adcom) is the more difficult thing :)

Thought about it, but then decided against: cost of school + cost of London; LBS is a very good school, but its strengths do not exactly match my goals; finally, I don't think I'd be a fit there (this is the main reason).

Bad news. I thought JBS doesn't have a wailtlist.
And just two days? Did this person ask for their decision before that? Perhaps they just forgot to inform him/her in time?

haha - don't go by my experience - my essays for LBS could have been better. And, they did admit me in the end, even though I never visited them :) - but others such as Chicago and Stern didn't (even though my essays for these schools were much better and I actually flew from Australia to visit campus for their interviews).

In any case good luck with JBS, I'm sure its an excellent school too.

Dude, you are killing me... When I read this I wish to apply immediately. But again...
Anyway, which round have you applied? I don't have neither time nor nerves to apply in the first. If 2nd was OK, maybe I could consider applying. Damn, and I thought I had very clear and concise list of universities... :|
The most appealing part is that I am as old as you are and that I have exactly the same GMAT. Additionaly, I have work exp. that would be interesting for LBS. Damn...
Come on, please, advertise that school little further and who knows... :)

After all this talk on JBS, I will shift the focus solely to Oxford (until the JBS interview decisions start coming out of course).

How are you guys progressing? The last time I saw the application, essay 2 scared me and I swiftly logged out. *sigh*

I will drum up some courage to start this week. Essay 1 seems straight forward, but its essay 2 that worries me.

All the best for this folks!

Hi Buffdaddy. To say the truth, the progress is slow. Still not sure whether to apply at all in R1.
Theoretically, I like that second Oxford essay, because it could give you a real possibility to say something unique and creative. My problem with Cambridge essays was that they had to be too short: all my first drafts went over 1000 words. Now here with 2000 you could develop some serious topic. But no good ideas so far. I don't want to write about those 'recent market conditions' as that recent event that made me thinking, so I probably choose a more universal topic. Ah, if only the muse visit me tonight. :computer

Re: Oxbridge 2009 applicants [#permalink]
Definitely don't write about the market conditions, or the US election or signing of the Lisbon treaty or anything like that. It will be hard to link it to you personally.

As for the 2000 word limit, I have spoken to 5 other people in the past, 3 of whom got admits, and all of them who got interviewed. Guess what, none of them reached 2000 words. All of them wrote 1500 word essays. In saying that, if you can write 2000 words, go for it. I guess what the adcom is trying to say is, "use as much space you need to, to tell us a good story and show us who you really are".

The development you choose can be something small (it's not a world event). I have sort of chosen what I will use, but haven't put pen to paper yet (LBS keeps me busy enough). So I will start it soon.
