You know, I had the same idea, bsd-lover, but then I decided that I’m simply going crazy…
However, this conspiracy really makes sense. Also, they don’t have quota for each round (unlike Oxford) and have relatively small intake. Another reason to apply early.

The majority still seems to regard JBS as a ‘safety’ for other top European programmes – but I doubt that this perception is right. I know of people who were accepted to INSEAD and LBS but dinged by JBS. So this school should have a really interesting ‘fit’ factor... I wish I knew more about it.

Application is now available for Cambridge Judge, including essays. They have been changed from last year but seem pretty straightforward. The hardest part is the word limit: how to say everything you want in just 400 words.

Is it only me or has Oxford still not released their application.... :oops: ..... was supposed to come out Sep 1.......... maybe I'm missing something here??? :roll:

Oxford is out now -- I just created my account.

I could have sworn that Cambridge last year had a later deadline for Round 1 -- with INSEAD and LBS coming up, I think I'll have to postpone JBS for R2...

you are right JBS brought their deadline forward by a month this year. God knows why.

And particularly, this stat: Oxford University’s Saïd Business School saw a “15-20 per cent increase” in applications for its MBA class starting this autumn, says Christopher McKenna, programme director. More than 1,000 students applied for 225 places this year and he expects yet more interest in 2009.

Therefore, there should be +- 20% acceptance this year at Oxford.

Actually, it must be more than 20%: not all accepted applicants actually go to Oxford.

JBS decided to create "Round One and a Half":

Info from their site:

"Due to recent market conditions, the Admissions Committee has decided to offer a second Round 1 deadline to enable more applicants to receive an early decision on their candidature."

Application Deadline: November 19
Notification of Interview Decision: December 18
Interview: mid-Jan (tbc)
Notification of Final Decision: January 30

Will anyone here still apply before the initial R1 deadline?

Very interesting. I don't think its due to market conditions. I truly believe they realised that they may not get many R1 apps due to the 3.5 weeks gap they gave people. And to be fair they didn't want to push the actual R1 deadline back. So I think they just decided to invent a solution.

Of course I am just speculating. It was very tempting to push back to Nov 17th. But I think I will soldier on and Submit before Oct1.

Hi Namah,

applying as early as possible does help. Also if you look at the interview decision deadline (7th Nov), it is well before the 19th November R1a deadline.

So if you think you can submit as good an application on the 1st October when compared with what you can achieve on the 19th of November, by all means, do submit it. It could mean that you will not be competing with the R1a applicants.

As always, this is my personal opinion.

thanks buff.
i have already done it before the deadline of JBS ie oct 1. i dont have a good gmat score(620) and have a long experience of working in the government administration in India for the last 10 years and have a good engineering academic background.what would be my chances for admission.

I dont feel that JBS would have received many applications by the 1st. Which leaves you two in a very strong position to get noticed before anyone else.Good luck you two.

Yeah, I didn't receive any confirmation for the recommendation letters, too (and I am sure they were sent). JBS people just confirmed that they had received my application.

Just got a confirmation from JBS that my application is with them and is complete. They will notify me in three weeks (way before the 7th Nov interview decision date stated on the website). I really hope this is the case!

Lets hope the Oct '09 Plan works out!
