Hi Devil,

apparently Colleges aren't very important for MBA students, but keep the following criteria in mind

- Distance from the school if you will stay in college accomodation
- If you are bringing a partner to Said, only a few colleges offer accommodation for your partner
- Prestige (some colleges are VERY hard to get into eg. Christ College)
- Some colleges are undergrad only whereas others are postgrad only, but most cater for both students

the best way to find out more about colleges is doing a google search or wikipedia search for them.

I received an interview invitation from Cambridge a few days ago.
Do you know how many of the interviewed candidates are accepted on average?

as far as how many of the interviewed candidates get accepted? I have read before that JBS is very selective in their interviews and the interview to accepted percentage is very high (beyond 50%), but I don't know exact figures.

Submitted for Oxford! Hopefully the specific deadline is 11:59 pm on 10/24 and I made it on time...

I'm actually pretty happy with my application, since time was running short -- I'm rolling off my current consulting project this week, so too many late nights (either from being swamped with work or from partying :-D ). My second essay ended up only coming out to 1300ish words, but I got in what I needed to say and it all flows together well, IMO. So we'll see...

buffdaddy -- hope all is well and nothing major was preventing you from SBS R1....good luck on JBS and all the best for SBS R2!

Wish you all the best mate. Oxford is a really good school and left an impression on me when i sat in class this past february.

the reasons for my R2 deferral was that I had to come to New Zealand urgently from London a week before submission for family reasons. My essays were just okay and this was confirmed after showing them to some friends. They lacked punch (especially my essay 2). So rather than submit sub-par essays, I decided to get into R2.

Whatever happens with JBS and LBS, I will still apply to Oxford.

Submitted Ox R1 too.
Was not happy with the essays at all. But somebody needs to have bad essays, I think, so that the other people ones will shine in comparison. :wink:

No email from Judge for the majority of us, however, is not nice at all. I only hope that we'll hear from them next week. Don't want to panic, but, honestly, I'm very sceptical of my chances now. BTW, have you heard of some other interview invites/dings aside from the one that was mentioned - perhaps among your friends?

P.S. Just noticed that I was granted the mod powers for this subforum too 8-)

Hi Greenoak,

i had some free time yesterday and I trolled through several other forums and only Zelda has received an interview invite.

Also I read that some person emailed and asked JBS when will interview invites be sent out. They said that interview invites will be sent out "this week" but that was 4 days ago.

Additionally, I am in New Zealand at the moment, but a friend was visiting the MBA Fair in London yesterday and I asked him to ask JBS when will R1 applicants hear? I haven't heard back from him yet.


in the mean time, I plan to enjoy the weekend.!

Thanks Buff, I think I found this forum too. There was a reply later about some person already receiving an interview invite (though posted not by this person himself) - also in December, like Zelda. I only hope that they didn't release all invites last week, and we still have a chance to hear a good news. Also there was some info on that forum that Cambridge acceptance rate is estimated to be near 12% this year. This figure seems quite realistic for me.

Anyway, good luck to all in the waiting club! Keep faith!

Hi freinds,
I also submited the Oxford application in R1, an hour before dealline :) . It was a tough call, the 2000 word essay really bugged me. I deliberated on pushing to R2 but then thought against it. Now I dare not read my nearly 2000 words of Mumbo Jumbo. May God have mercy on my essay Reviewer. :evil:
One plus for applying at the fag end of a round is the interview Invite date is not very far(Nov 14).
