Stick with what you have right now. Put a quick 2-3 sentence note about your promotion. Frankly, your new supervisor probably doesn't know much about you, and since you are new to this position, you probably don't have anything particularly insightful to say about it.

I would write admissions a short email/letter stating that you recently received a significant promotion (state what it is and what your new responsiblities are). Also, you should reiterate why you want to pursue an MBA degree at this stage of your development and why this school is the ideal place for you to attend. This email should not be longer than one or two paragraphs -- needs to be direct and to the point. Do not submit a thesis on this matter and include a detailed description of your new job, how you feel about being promoted, defend getting an MBA degree, etc.
