Any idea when Tuck's school-specific Consortium essays will be released?

That's some good insight. As a perspective applicant who has only fairly recently started looking into Tuck, can you give me some idea why its a butterfly school for you ? I have spoken to two current students who both loved it but for very different reasons!

Sure, would love to share.
1) location: I went to a large state university in a large city and felt that I was sort of always distracted in school, so wanted to go to a school in a rural town and with a smaller class size. And I know Tuck is sort of in the middle of nowhere, but when you think about it, its actually 2 hours from Boston and 4 hours away from NYC. Yes, you cannot visit those cities every day, but they are still at a drivable distance.
2) recruiting: In my opinion, Tuck has the strongest recruiting among all schools(including HBS/Stanford) when it comes to traditional fields (consulting/banking). I am interested in MBB and have heard that pretty much every interested applicant gets an interview slot because there is not much competition. When I visited, there was a Bain event going on, and I heard that there were as many Bainies as students.
3) Lastly, not to throw any dirt on any school, but I found student body to be more mature than other schools (I have visited all top schools in small towns). While, this may be a turn off for some, I am a slightly older applicant and not very much into the party scene.

These are all great observations, and this reinforces how important the first-hand research can be. Visiting schools is always helpful but with Tuck it's practically mandatory! Thanks for sharing those insights, hailmary620.

to add one more thing: two current students I connected with last year are helping me with the reapplication process (they offered help without me asking for it). You can't beat the family like atmosphere up there. Now, let's hope that I get in, so I can start improving my hockey skills. You need those up there

I did really want to get up there for Summer Visit Day but couldn't get away from work, so I do love hearing from other people and their opinions. When I first started looking into schools Tuck didn't get a second thought, but the more I talk to people and do my own research, the more I am started to fall for it as well. So thank you for the feedback!

From speaking to students, the community does seem unique and pretty awe inspiring. Every school I have looked makes claims about having great community but Tuck seems to really display it in everything they do. I have also had current students offer to help with essays and interview prep unsolicited. Really remarkable.

Although with the mention of hockey I might have to reconsider; I fall down and pout whenever I so much as look at ice skates!

I think of Tuck as an Aston Martin. It's not Ferrari or Lamborghini, but the people who loves it think that its the big thing ever.

First post here, so go kind on me. I am planning to apply to Tuck this year and was wondering if you wise heads can give an opinion of my chances.

Short Summary:

Indian
Undergrad from IIT Kharagpur 2010 (GPA on the lower side)
6 mnths in PSU as Management Trainee
Business Analyst at Analytics/Consulting firm
Promoted to Asst. Manager after 14 months
Fair few accomplishments at work

Good extra acads in college, leadership roles/sports etc
Tutoring/Mentoring, CSR all present

GMAT at the end of August - confident of 720+

Appreciate any advice!

Hi vjcfc - welcome to GMAT Club! Unfortunately, as you know, your profile is fairly standard - but that's OK, lots of guys from 'standard' profiles get in every year. The challenge is if your GPA is actually low, and you hit below 720 on the GMAT, then you're not distinguishing yourself, and even more important, your work experience is a little light for Tuck. You'll need to articulate to them why they're the right school for you, and why you're ready for the MBA right now. And you didn't mention anything about career goals so we can't even begin to say whether this program might be a match for you.

We've seen schools like Tuck reject people simply due to too little work experience. You have enough, possibly, but nothing here jumps out at us to say that this is the right time or not. That's only for you to decide, it's not like we can dictate that strategy, and if you feel ready then you need to go for it. But those essays need to be sparkling. You must emphasize your leadership experience and show how you're ahead of your peers. And the goals matter A LOT at Tuck.

The good news is that Tuck gives plenty of chances to apply - don't rush for their Early Action round unless you're really prepared for it. The November round is also plenty advantageous. They mean it when they say "apply when you're ready." Focus on the GMAT first and nail it; knowing your score will help a little in terms of seeing how the adcom might respond. The GMAT isn't everything but a higher score certainly helps.

As far as goals are concerned, short term, I would like to stay in consulting and of course aim for an organization which will give me much more exposure.

GPA on scale of 10 is 6.8, yet to get into converison ratios in terms of US schools. Will be trying to maximize the GMAT score.

Growth in the organizaiton has been pretty good and well ahead of others, in fact, gearing up for another promotion the coming year. Though, I do agree that the experience is definitely less than the average. Again, appreciate your insight and if you have any more suggestions regarding the schools which I could apply (with a good chance), do drop a word! Thanks.

Don't worry about trying to convert to U.S. 4.0 system, you'll report as the 6.8 / 10 on your apps. That is unfortunately rather low but it's not impossible to get in from that range. I am a Kuwaiti citizen currently living in the USA. I attended Appalachian State University in North Carolina thanks to a fully paid scholarship I received from the Kuwaiti Cultural Office due to graduating with honors from Bibi Alsalem Al-Sabah High School. I majored in Healthcare Management and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

Post graduating, I became a summer intern at Carolinas Healthcare System and was offered a full time job there. After my work permit expired, I went back to Kuwait and interned at The Ouriel Group which is a healthcare consultant company based in NYC and worked with them on a business proposal project for the Ministry of Health in Kuwait. After completing the project, I got the opportunity to move to NYC and worked at Sports Medicine at Chelsea for Dr. Clifford Stark. New York was an AMAZING experience for me and I loved every “New York Minute” of it. But soon enough I realized that my heart belonged in the south in North Carolina so I moved back here and eventually ended up with my current employer Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates working as a Medical Accounts Receivable Specialist.

I enjoy working in the healthcare industry and I closely follow its progression. However, with the new Healthcare reform soon to be implemented, I feel like the US healthcare system will face tremendous challenges in the forthcoming years and I believe that I need to prepare myself for that by enhancing my skills and knowledge by obtaining my MBA. My goal is to apply for the Kuwait Investment Authority MBA Scholarship Program. I studied their List of accredited Universities for 2013 and absolutely fell in love with Tuck.

I wanna be a tuckie so baaaad! I am still in the early stages of doing EVERYTHING! I am currently studying for the GMAT and my first GMAT course starts tomorrow at Queen’s University in Charlotte, North Carolina.
