Just booked my vacation for 1st week of October. Going to TUCKKKKK!!!!!! I am already having butterflies!

Nice, you going to be doing your interview at that time?! I am starting to think about logistics for that too.

Yes, I am going there mainly for the interview. There is a also a diversity conference in November which I am contemplating attending.

Come meet us at Tuck. Would love to show you around the campus and introduce you to fellow Tuckies.
If you need any help with logistics etc., do let us know.

Thanks for the offer, vanishing nerd. I am a reapp and have visited Tuck before, but feel that you can never visit this place enough. Hopefully this time I will visit in October, not December, and not drive through the green mountains on a rainy/foggy night - i barely made it alive.

Tuck class of 2015's profile is up. Nothing significant to point out other than the fact that someone got in with a 530. Call me naive but how can you have such a low GMAT and still get in?

Here is the link for those looking for it: https://www.tuck.dartmouth.edu/admissio ... ss-profile

You get in with a 530 because you have an outstanding profile beyond the GMAT and/or make a huge donation to the school.

Profiles I'm thinking of: World class athlete
Royalty in your country
Top Secret Military/intelligence person

Just some examples - it really could be a lot of things, though.

Has anyone tried to schedule an on-campus interview. It doesn't look like interviews are up yet.

That's correct. They aren't up yet. Tuck is starting campus visits and interviews on 9th Sept. though. That's the only info available.

Great posts guys - I hope you stick around.

Certainly goes to show what kind of people Tuck likes :)

Do you guys want to share your profiles in here? or perhaps anything you wish you had known 9 months ago (whenever you started applying)

28 year old white male
GPA= 3.9 from liberal arts college, GMAT = 730
WE = nonprofit/government/military

I knew absolutely nothing about the whole business school application process a year ago, and the one thing I would recommend is to network with current students at target schools who come from a similar background. I found that it helped me understand the school and made my essays better.

Hi,

To get along with what you said, I have some questions for you. hah:P

I'm also from nonprofit/government sector, but I am concerned about Tuck's attitude to people like me. Also, as my aspiration is still in nonprofit/government, I am especially worried about how to persuade the adcom believe Tuck, not Yale, is the best fit for me.

Besides, what do you think of Tuck's concurrent MBA/MPA program with HKS? I like the practicality of an MBA, but an MPA from HKS is also glamorous.

Thanks!

Make that three of us, Tuck and Yale are at the top of my list as well, though not interested in the HKS MPP as I already have a master's in politics / policy. Definitely a tough line to walk.

I don't think that Tuck is going to hold your background against you, and I really don't believe that just because your profile and your aspirations, Tuck will think that you really just want to go to Yale. I've read that Tuck has a reputation for liking bankers, but I'm not sure how true that is. If you look from last year (T'14) to this year (T'15) you'll see that Tuck went from having 10% of the class in the government/nonprofit/military sector to 16% this year.

I actually think the MBA/MPA (Tuck/Kennedy) makes a lot of sense for someone looking to stay in the nonprofit/government sector. Just 1 extra year and you get a whole new network and more focus on government/nonprofit. Please feel free to PM me if you have other questions.

I applied in the November round and I found it to be like applying in Round 1.5. I got a decision on Feb 8, which was in between my round 1 schools, but before my round 2 schools. One good thing about the November round is that while the applicant gets a decision much earlier than R2 decisions for other schools, the deposit isn't due until April (same as Tuck's January round).

@Juggurnaut, PanchoPippin is right, and to directly answer the "is it like Rd 2 at other schools?": No. The January Round is like Round 2 at other schools, in terms of when they get a lot of apps - and the most important fact is that the Tuck April Round is like Round 3 at other schools where you have much less chance, given that they've already filled most of the class.

The two Fall rounds at Tuck are both great options, they're not as competitive, chances are quite similar between the Early and the November deadlines. January Round is also still doable for a good candidate, no problem if someone has to push out till then. An Early Round app is of course preferable if you already know that Tuck is your first choice school but it's not so critical that you need to knock yourself silly making it happen; if you're not ready, November or even January are both feasible.

A question for people who visited campus to interview last year:

Did the system allow to schedule a campus visit and interview on 2 separate days? For instance, can we book a campus visit, info session, class visit etc. on Thursday and book our interview on Friday?

It didn't allow me;I had to do everything on the same day, but I also don't remember any activity other than a class visit and an info session.
