Re: Sloan (MIT) Class of 2016 Calling All Waitlisted Applicants [#permalink]
I am struggling to write this waitlist email... I really don't feel anything has changed professionally or personally since September.. :(
I used the additional essay to write about why Sloan specifically but I guess that did not seem enough.... lost what else I need to do here ...I know technically we are all competing against each other so I feel bad reaching out for help lol

Mhh... I know what you mean and I guess we are all in the same boat.
In my case for example, I know for sure that I will not move forward in any way within those next 6 month until I resign! My Boss reminds me pretty much every single day about that :D

So I would recommend to maybe do something extracurricular that fits to your specific career Goals???
I'm on learning another language, since my announced career Goal was/is to relocate and gain flexibility.

But to be honest, I guess the best advice would be to get used to the idea that we are not being accepted (no offense we are all in the same boat...). Took me a while, but life goes on...
And you got accepted by Ross. Others would die for this opportunity ;)

Think even MIT said in one of their transcripts that they recommend to accept offers from other Schools / apply to more when waitlisted since the outcome is rather uncertain (by means highly unlikely).
And unlike in the application process, this time there is a lot of luck in the game. Let’s say you fit into xy category, so someone (or more People than in previous years) with a similar xy Background Need to reject the offer.

Thank Felix for your note... I guess I will give it a shot since I have nothing to lose in any case. Yes I am indeed grateful of having Ross as a backup and would gladly take it if I had been rejected outright.
Good luck to all!

Hello there fellow waitlisters! I spoke with a recent Sloan grad who was initially waitlisted in R1 a few years back. Regarding an update, he advised to revisit your application and try to think about a strength or something interesting you haven't already addressed in an essay, resume, recommendation, etc. Then, try to align that with why you believe Sloan is the best fit for you. Fingers crossed for everyone!!!

anyone know what the timeframe is for Round 2 interview invitations? As far as I understand, any Round 1 waitlists without an interview will be considered during Round 2 interviews and if you are not invited, then the chances of being taken off the waitlist are even lower....

"When can you let me know if I am being invited to interview?

Interview invitations will go out mid-February and continue throughout March. "

Also submitted an update and secured another letter of recommendation.

Here's to hoping for an interview invite in Feb/March!

Did you guys receive any type of response from AdCom after you sent your updates? Cheers.

Yup. The day after I sent my update, I received an email that said: Thank you for these wonderful updates. I have added them to your file.

Similarly, my recommender received a response: Thank you for writing this additional letter of recommendation. I have added it to XXX's file.

However, I did not get an email when my recommender submitted her letter. I only saw the email because she forwarded it to me.

I remember something around mid Jan!
Pretty early for my consideration, but that's the time when they start (!) to evaluate who to invite.

Please correct me if I am mistaken...

During the chat, the admissions officer stated updates should be in by mid Jan. However, if you read the transcript posted after the chat, the transcript says by the end of February. So I guess that advice was corrected when Sloan posted the transcript.

I think Sloan kind of learned it's lesson from Round 1 when the Admissions Committee was not able to extend all of its interview invitations by the November 8 deadline that Sloan posted on its blog and about which it notified candidates. So I'm guessing that Sloan is giving itself a bit more breathing room in Round 2.
