Awarding medallions and rewards for trying on clothes? How do you encourage consumers to show you their behavior? How can social media become a company’s best advocate or worst enemy? When does a company cross the line between using data strategically and just being a creep? These were just a few of the questions that were addressed during a recent Chicago Conversations held in San Francisco. Chicago Conversations is a special series of Booth events held around the world that are open to prospective students and are meant to provide an opportunity for the Booth community to engage in candid conversations about specific industries and topics – in the Chicago way. On this particular night, the topic was on marketing innovation, and the event was set in the home of the new Big Heart Pet Brands, made possible through the generous support of 1972 Booth alumnus and Group Executive Vice President and Chief Growth Officer of Del Monte Carl Johnson III. Surrounded by passionate alumni, fellow colleagues, admitted students, and prospective students, with the glittering Bay Bridge in the backdrop, the room was filled with the natural warmth and camaraderie that I’ve come to expect of the Booth community. The panel of Chicago Booth and University of Chicago alumni – coincidentally all of whom are dog lovers – engaged in a candid discussion of current trends and successes, as well as future challenges and opportunities in the world of marketing. In true Chicago tradition, at times, the panelists agreed to disagree and appreciated that their respective companies’ audiences were different and so were their perspectives. By the end of the evening, the resounding sentiment from the panel was that successful companies are ones that focus on consumer insight and effectively implement ways to encourage consumers to “show” companies their behavior. Highlights of insight gleaned from the evening: *American Eagle sells more jeans to the 15-to-25-year-old population than any other retailer. *Around 60% of teenagers would sooner check their phones or leave the store than to ask associates for help, if they don’t see a particular item in the store. *When Expedia faced overwhelming negativity on social media, they turned their reputation around by creating one of the largest sweepstakes in Facebook history that encouraged followers to share a dream vacation for friends and loved ones. *Blackberry is under new leadership and is focusing on segmentation. *The current average agency relationship is shorter than four years. *For better traction, companies have begun to hire journalists to write their blogs. If you’re looking to learn more about the kind of organic collaboration that takes place within the Booth community, and an opportunity to interact with alumni, staff and students, then attending a Chicago Conversation might be a great option for you. Very possible I'm just blind, but I couldn't find this information on their website...when do Booth classes start?

I tried several variations of "chicago booth academic calender 2014" before posting, and none yielded an answer. I found this, but you need a student log in to access it:

AFAIK, the academic calendar isn't available publicly. I couldn't find it last year when I was applying.
Anyways, I haven't seen the '14-15 calendar, but I can give you last year's dates.
Random Walks - Wed. 8/21/13 - Sat. 8/31/13
Pre-MBA Accounting (optional) - Tues. 9/3/13 - Sat. 9/6/13
1st Day of Orientation - Mon. 9/9/13
1st Day of Class - Thurs. 9/26/13

Alright, so tomorrow's the calling day. Good luck to everyone here! I'll be the neurotic mess in the chatroom tomorrow.
For any other desperate-for-info types out there, I looked back through this thread to R1 and last year's R2 results to get a sense of when calls came. Please remember that this is based on small, self-reported sample and that there is no guarantee that Booth AdComs will follow this same pattern. But the results are below:
R1 – Class of 16 (all times CDT)
8:30am – Europe
8:45am – India
10am – Argentina
10am – East Coast US
10:30am - Israel
12pm – Chicago
1:15pm – SW US
2:20pm – West US
Later calls reported until 3:30pm (Int’l), 5:30pm (US East/Midwest), 5:30pm (US West)
Portal updated with dings/waitlist for those not called at 9am CST on ‘official’ decision day

Just as an additional data point, I received a call from Booth around 4:30 EST (3:30 central) and I'm an int'l student. So for those outside the US, don't despair if you have not received a call by noon - they go on for pretty much the entire day.

Does anyone know if Booth leaves voicemails or sends emails if they can't reach you?

Based on last year's threads, they will leave voicemails stating either "we'll try you back in xxx minutes" or "call us please." If they can't get a hold of you, they typically email. Some missed connections resulted in a call on decision day though...

Good luck tomorrow everyone! I think I'm leaning towards Kellogg, so it'll be nice to go through an admit day without wanting to pull my hair out (Although if I get into Booth, will definitely fly in and check out both).
So excited that after tomorrow this 9-10 month process will finally be over. No more gmats, no more essays, no more interviews, no more waiting.
I don't even know what I'll think about anymore since "where am I going to go to business school?" has filled my mind for nearly a year. It's going to be awesome to finally start the next stage (well, aside from the loans part), and also to have an almost 3 month vacation this summer.
