Calling all Michigan (Ross) Fall 2009 Applicants!

Better late than never. ryguy and manbilla, Congrats on the interview invite !!

I finished my interview at Ross yesterday. It was scheduled at 10:15 am. My interview was conducted with a second year student. He was very warm and made me feel comfortable instantly. Interview lasted for around half and hour and for the last 5 mins I was asking questions. After we walked out of the room, we were chatting for 5-10 mins about the school.

Some of the questions-
1) Walk me through your resume. ( I answered Why MBA also here and my interviewer was happy that I did that)

2) Why Ross ? ( I forgot to mention some of the clubs I was going to join at Ross, but I sensed that my interviewer was happy with my answer overall)

3) What was a challenging time you faced in your career and how did you handle it (Now, I had different stories for 'difficult time' and 'leadership'. But since he asked me this before leadership, I thought he is not going to ask me leadership exclusively. So I quickly converted my leadership story in to a challenge and presented that. I think I rambled a bit. Finally, my intuition turned out right. He did now ask me leadership experience later.)

4) What do you do outside work and how will you apply it to Ross ( Kinda screwed it up, I think. I talked about 3 distinct things. But got so carried away that missed linking it to Ross. So after I answer the question, he had to remind me and then I covered it up.)

The above took us around 25 mins. I think I kept a pleasant face and spoke smoothly. In the last 5 mins, I asked a few questions about William Davidson institute.
As he walked me out, we talked about current year recruitment's and overall student culture.

I did a 10 hr drive to Ross and he was amazed that I did that.

Last night, I got the app complete email and initially thought, my app got complete because I interviewed - both happened on the same day. That means, they made a quick decision for me - DING !. And I was But later, saw the flurry of posts in this thread and was glad to see that everyone got the email. Just a coincidence !

I also met ncprasad on the earlier night. He had a recruiting event in Chicago and landed in Detroit at 10:30 pm. We met in Ann Arbor and 11:15 pm. And were talking till 1:15 am !!! It was great !! Got some honest insights in to life of an MBA and particularly at Ross.
