Re: INSEAD SEPTEMBER 2011 Intake [#permalink]
The september intake does not have internship. So that is a missed opportunity. On the other hand, INSEAD (brochure?) points out that more than 80% changed career/ function / country and more than 20% changed all three .. I am not sure if I remember the percentages right..

the INSEAD site says 12m program better for people willing to move to investment banking as typical hiring culture is through internships, agree with this

the INSEAD application locks some of the cells after you generate the recommendation links. Anyone has first hand idea, which cells are locked?

So Guys, I see there are total 7 mandatory essays and one optional essay. So wanna share any tips on how to avoid repetition? Any strategies or tips would help....

My take : I am trying to break down all the important points across various questions before I start writing them.....

Can someone please tell me what the upcoming R1 R2 R3 timelines are for both September 2011 and Jan 2012?

How much of a difference does it make if you apply earlier?

I am aiming for a GMAT of 720 /
WE 4yrs in the middle east with one of the top 5 global banks
Undergrad from a Canadian school

Thanks...

so Jan intake is for more non IBs? Also, does that mean IB doesnt care about internships as much? I guess I am trying to figure out if INSEAD is right for me and if it is better to do Jan or Sept....

Hi addictive,
The fields that get locked are - name, email, year of intake

Hi Sanlitun,
The link leads to a questionnaire. Some are multiple choice questions and some have a little box below where your recommender will have to answer the question asked.
thank god it's not a reco letter! Recommenders seem to hate that! :-)

Does anybody have information on the recommendations ?
Will the links provide a space for a recommendation letter ? or will it link to a list of questions ?

You can also create a dummy application (just fill in the basic mandatory info), generate the reco links and see the entire form for yourself!

Re: INSEAD SEPTEMBER 2011 Intake [#permalink]
Folks, I'd really appreciate your opinion on the following:

On one hand, there is a good chance I will be getting a new role/promotion within my company in the next while (maybe a month or 2 - not too clear on a definite timeline). On the other hand, I'm done with my application (i.e. GMAT, Essays, LoRs). Do you think I should wait for the promotion to officially take place, briefly reflect it in my essays and submit application in R2 instead? Or should I submit now (i.e. R1 - better chances) and when the promotion takes place, I would update the ad-com with a follow-up email? Is it even possible to send such a follow-up email, has anyone been in the same boat?

Many thanks.

i'd suggest R1 and follow-up email, if possible (this you may ask them through email, INSEAD admissions people are quite prompt - got reply to my Qs in 24hrs) ....... INSEAD's website says R1 or R2 makes no difference, but it is hard to agree .......... i'm in somewhat of a similar situation ........... i'm targeting R2, but with apprihension (planning to get a reco from boss (important since i work for a small company), after just getting a decent hike and bonus, was waiting for this to get through before approaching)

@addictive: Thanks for the response. I hear you, in your case however, have you also considered the timeline when approaching the LoR request? Maybe if you approach your boss saying you're looking to take a shot at a top school after 1 year would have less of an impact on him then approaching to say I made my mind to leave to business school in 6 months or so. I mean you could word it as taking a once in a lifetime shot with no guarantees for getting admitted..etc. What do you think?
