@Whiplash-- Sorry about that. I guess just try again in a couple of years. I'm sure you'll get into a top school.

@Googleplus-- Congrats! I don't think you ever posted your stats... would you mind doing that for us? It sure would be helpful.

Oh, also... Whiplash are you applying anywhere else this year? I know Yale has that Silver Scholars program for college seniors... if you got an interview for 2+2 I'm sure you'd have a good shot at Yale.

That's perfect, thanks. Just out of curiosity, what kind of research did you do?

Well I took the GMAT today and ended up with an abysmal 690 Q:47 V:37 so my guess is that it would be a waste of time to submit an app with that score. I guess my options are then to wait to see how I do on the GRE (9/19), retest the GMAT and apply R2, or just give it up. The 3rd option isn't for me so looks like its time to buckle down for the GRE. My prep for the GMAT fell into complete crap and I studied maybe a week total in the 2 months I had, but managed to raise my score from 600 -> 690 with the little scattered prep I did. Best of luck to the R1 applicants, looks like I wont be joining you

Thank you for the advice, re-reading my post I realize I seem a lot more careless about this than I really am. My application to this program will actually be my main focus until it's finished up and submitted. I'll go ahead and share my profile if anyone feels like commenting:

GMAT:
Currently prepping for first test (9/3/11)

Academics:
B.S. Chemical Engineering with a minor in Chemistry from a top 20 U.S. engineering school
GPA - 3.34/4.0 as of now with 1 semester left, strong upward trend (2.3 -> 3.34); 3.7 major GPA

Internships:
1. Process Engineering internship with a large global chemical and pharmaceutical company. Fortune 200
2. Process Engineer in chemicals manufacturing (designed and led $200k+ project to submission to business unit leader)
3. Process Engineer at an oil refinery for the #1/#2 (depending on the year) largest private company in the U.S.

Positions of Responsibility:
1. Founding CFO of the university's entrepreneurship society
2. Vice President of the school's chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers
3. Previously Junior class representative for AIChE

Extra Curricular Stuff:
1. Summer research in metabolic engineering lab
2. 1.5 years in nanomaterials lab
3. Will be working with the "new ventures" group in the Office of Technology Commercialization during the upcoming semester evaluating university technologies for potential start-ups.

Hoping to get strong letters from my supervisor this summer as well as the head of the Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship at my university. I'll be crossing my fingers that my application lines up with what HBS is looking for.

Yeah, just because the median for applicants is 720 doesn't mean that you can't get accepted without that score... they have people both above and below. So far we have an acceptance with a 690 and a no-interview ding with a 780. It just goes to show that a lot of other things factor in. If you feel like the rest of your application is ready, go ahead and jump in for R1!

I heard that HBS looks weights GPA a lot more than GMAT. Seems to be true. Anyways good luck people. I wonder if they will have the same interview process for the coming 3 rounds though

Do you guys know if it holds true for 2+2 that round one and two apps have the same chance? I feel like most apply R1 because many still don't know that 2+2 has been extended to senior year apps...
