Kind of related topic: Anyone have information about College Park at Shady Grove?
Is Shady Grove considered lesser than main campus? sources say the diploma is the same.

Absolutely, College Park is like the flagship campus of the UMD system.

Shady Grove is a satellite campus, but the diploma is the same. I attended admitted students weekend this weekend and can confirm that I was told by Univ Officials that the same professors teach at all campuses, and many students in the FT program elect to take electives at the satellite campuses (Shady Grove, Baltimore, DC) as they may be closer to home or internships. I actually attended an info session at the DC campus last fall and can say it was quite an impressive satellite location.

EMS thanks for the reply.
Any thoughts on the local area in terms of internship and job opportunity?

I've lived in DC/Arlington for many years. You have to understand that all of these locations are really quite close to DC (in the case of Shady Grove and College Park both are stops on the metro!). You would be able to maintain internships in DC from any of these locations. Additionally, you could live in the city (though more expensive) and commute out to any of these campuses.

Hey EMS, what factors did you consider in deciding between GWU and Smith? Your thought process could be helpful to a lot of us.

Thanks

Honestly, I think it ends up being different for everyone in the end. I went to GWU undergrad, and had a great experience there. In the end I decided that even though GWU gave me more money than Smith that I wanted to have a different experience. Not better or worse, just something different for myself. I have many friends who have gone through GWU MBA and loved it, found that their cohorts are very well bonded, and the fact that the CAP is required for everyone to be a really valuable experience. But for myself, after many pro/con lists and a lot of agonizing over what the right choice was (because neither option is a bad choice by any means) in the end it was just about wanting a new experience. The other big factor for me was that the core is a little bit shorter at Smith/has more electives. Only downside is that at Smith classes are always during the day, whereas at GWU your second year is at night which allows for another internship.

Hi admitted students and applicants,

I would like to inform you that we have recently created a new forum for MBA debriefs where admitted members can share their admission experience.

I appeal admitted students spare some time and post your admission experience in the forum, and applicants can ask questions in the forum to trigger some discussions.

Here is the forum link: share-your-application-experience-332/

Enjoy!

Hey Vanessa,

Be prepared to answer questions on why MBA, why Smith, your post-MBA goals, explaining your career path, what do you expect from Smith, how would you like to contribute to the Smith community. It won't be a stress interview. Good luck

Full time program. Admitted. International student, round two.
Had interviewed with Dustin, it was a good interview thanks largely to the manner in which he intrrviewed.
Was thinking of writing him a thank you note, but am traveling for work and am currently in a remote location (think faaaar northeast India with major connectivity issues. may do so once I go back home

Dunno bout the scholarship information though, as yet.

Good luck to all pf ypu
