any idea of their industry? When was/is your deadline for accepting the RD1 offer?

Deadline was 3/1 for acceptance and $1500 deposit. One of the two is in computer hardware engineering, the other is in banking.

That means they definitely are not from R1. Could be others who got a call from Haas just like calculas did...
But this is weird... Why is the school not notifying everyone at the same time? This is just increasing anxiety among everyone else...

Could those 2 have received an admit in R1... Just that they joined the facebook page on wednesday, instead of earlier...

By the way, does anyone have an idea on how many folks are admitted in R2 and how many in R3? An approximation?
I used to think that since the schools say that you have an equal chance of getting in any round, then number of admits will be equally divided among all rounds..
But that doesn't seem to be the case out here...

An equal chance of admission, yes. However, the rounds vary in size.

Even then, R3 doesn't have nearly the same chance of admission that R1 & R2 have, no matter what Haas says. They've pretty much filled out the class at that point and if you're borderline, you get thrown at the back of the line.

Who knows...but clearly they didn't admit just 2 students as part of R2 or just let 2 out of a potential 100+ know that they have been admitted earlier.

How big is round 2 compared to round1?

No idea. They don't release those figures.

I would sure hope so, and seems more logical. I'm also wondering how big the sample size on this forum is. I sure as hell hope that all the admits that went out last week (if that was the case) were not all for people outside this forum!

Well, 3 more days at the most anyway!

Wondering if someone who is already in the facebook group could check with those two about when they got their admits! packet? :)

Re: Haas (UC Berkeley) EWMBA 2013 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
calculas,

i presume this was the 1st time u applied at Haas?
I have been having a weird feeling today, everyone I have known who graduated/is graduating from Haas has been waitlisted in the 1st year they applied and then eventually accepted when they reapplied the following year.
do you think they have a general rule of WL'ing 1st time engineering applicants (exceptions are always there)?
i hope it is not true... but the wait has been killing me... :)

I wouldn't speculate on their specific policies, but I do know Haas looks at reapplicants favorably. So, if you do get WL the first year and don't get in, but apply the second year, chances are, you'll be ahead of most of the other engineering students.

He's assuming Haas is going to release the admits a day early like they did in R1.

Hi packet82 - Its normal to have a few current students (Student council ambassadors. reps etc. ) in the FB page, checking their profile on LinkedIn will give you a clue. If they are not current students they are R2 admits!

Hi speedingdeamon - I did apply to Haas's FT last year but they probably didnt even touch my application (thanks to my awesome GMAT score) :) - so I technically do not qualify as re-applicant since I applied to PT this year and it was a royal pain in the butt to make case for the switch in my strategy from FT to PT within a year!
